For Israel, this is deadly serious.
If Hezbollah sits this out, the IDF will systematically crush Gaza. Serious attacks from Southern Lebanon will stretch the IDF ground force to the limit.
It may be that anger and disgust across the Muslim World with the destruction of Gaza and its people eventually provokes a larger war that could involve Iran, even Turkey.

Western pundits can’t accept that Hamas didn’t behead 40 babies and that the story is a lie planted by the Israeli military.
A normal person would be relieved that such a horror didn’t happen.
Instead they become angry, as if they’re emotionally attached to the idea of beheaded babies and disappointed it didn’t happen.

Of course what Hamas did is evil, but it must be acknowledged that the mistreatment of Palestinians at the hand of Israel is also evil. Israel created the conditions for this festering problem, so any blowback is entirely of their own creation.
Like Ukraine, Israel is learning the hard way that ethno-nationalist policies targeting unwanted minorities for persecution are generally a bad idea. The hate and loathing generated by such policies eventually comes back to bite you in catastrophic ways.
