Can we get something straight please:

On 1 April 2024, Israel did not attack an Iranian consulate in Damascus. It was a terrorist HQ for the IRGC, masquerading as a diplomatic mission.

Mohammad Reza Zahedi, the Iranian general who was eliminated in the attack, was no Gandhi. He was a senior Quds military commander involved in the planning and execution of Hamas’s October 7 massacre against Israel.

Zahedi also led Iran’s Hezbollah operations in Syria and Lebanon, including smuggling ammunition and precision weapons into Lebanon and working closely with Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah.

Zahedi, who was on par with Qassem Soleimani, also had “American blood on his hands”, having been responsible for a number of attacks in the region, that claimed American lives.

His elimination was an entirely legitimate, just and legal action.

Please, at least get the facts straight

By your definition, Israel is a terrorist entity, masquerading as a state, and deserves everything it has coming to it.

It does have a nice ring to it…

And it’s a far more accurate definition of Israel than your definition of the Iranian consulate in Damascus.

So more sanctions on Iran, because they fired 301 missiles & drones at Israel. And no sanctions on Israel for dropping tens of thousands of tonnes of munitions on Gaza (the equivalent of 2 nuclear bombs), which have injured or killed over 100,000 people

This is an absolutely extraordinary quote, especially from Ronen Bergman, one of Israel’s best informed journalists.

It captures just how unhinged and desperate the Israeli leadership has become, so much so that someone familiar with their current discussions is quoted as saying: “If the discussions were broadcast live on Youtube, you’d have 4 million people clamoring at Ben Gurion airport trying to get out of here.”

Interestingly, he also confirms that Israel did NOT inform the U.S. ahead of its strike on Iran’s consulate in Damascus, and that the strike was precisely to get America involved in a war with Iran in an attempt by Israel to escalate their way out of their current predicament: “Israel did not coordinate the assassination operation in Damascus with the United States. The IDF Operations Directorate updated them about the operation only simultaneously with the bombing of the building. The Americans were infuriated. They are very concerned and feel that Israel has put them exactly in the situation they tried to avoid. […] They do not want to get involved in a war with Iran, which the United States, after responding forcefully to an attack on American targets and calming the Ayatollahs, thought it had managed to prevent.”
