It is only after the deficit begins to expand again that the economy recovers. The historical correlation is 100%….
Contrary to general perception, fiat money is driven by the fact that taxpayers need the government’s money to pay their taxes. … so it can obtain the real goods and services it desires via the spending of its currency.
…. Treasury spending is a reserve add. Selling securities, by the Fed or Treasury, is simply a reserve drain, a monetary operation. This underlies the empirical evidence that nations can run any debt ratios they want, in their own fiat currencies, and still “fund the debt.”
How large a deficit is prudent? …., the government could offer a job to anyone who wanted one, at some minimum rate of pay deemed appropriate, and let the deficit float. This would end unemployment and unemployment compensation, eliminate the need for minimum wage laws, and promote price stability,…
The Federal debt is all the money spent but not taxed. …
The current budget debate is based on erroneous assumptions. Washington does not understand fiat money. Until it does, efforts to reduce the deficit will continue, and the economy will continue to underperform.

Bogdanovka was an extermination camp established in October 1941 by Romanian occupation authorities. It was located in the village of Bogdanovka on the Bug River in the Golta district of Transnistria. The camp was set up on orders from Col. Modest Isopescu, the district commissioner.
– Around 48,000 people deported to Bogdanovka came from Odessa, and about 7,000 from Bessarabia.
– The last transport to Bogdanovka arrived on December 1, 1941, totaling over 54,000 Jews in the camp.
– Typhus outbreaks occurred in mid-December. – Isopescu, in consultation with German adviser Fleischer, decided to kill the entire camp population.
– Romanian troops, gendarmerie, Ukrainian police, civilians from Golta, and local ethnic Germans (Volksdeutsche) took part in the operation.
– The mass slaughter began on December 21, 1941.
– Sick and disabled prisoners were locked in stables, set on fire, and burned to death.
– The rest of the prisoners were marched to a nearby forest, ordered to strip, and shot or killed with hand grenades.
– The massacre lasted for four days, resulting in the murder of 30,000 Jews.
– The remaining prisoners suffered from exposure, with thousands freezing to death.
– On Christmas Eve, the killing briefly stopped but resumed on December 28.
– By December 31, all 11,000 remaining Jews were also dead.
– Isopescu ordered the obliteration of all traces of the slaughter and the burning of corpses.
– In early 1942, 200 Jews were forced to burn the corpses, with 150 of them dying from cold, hunger, or being shot by Ukrainian guards.
In 1945, Isopescu, Manescu, and camp commandants were put on trial, with death sentences commuted to life imprisonment for those responsible for mass murder, while others received long prison terms.

Expanded version of my Canadian Press interview appears in @globeandmail: “Ivan Katchanovski, a Ukrainian-Canadian political science professor at the University of Ottawa, says the actions of Hunka’s Waffen-SS Galicia Division have been “whitewashed” in Canada.
He says supporters have tried to present the division as a patriotic Ukrainian force despite the fact it collaborated with Nazis and was involved in a variety of atrocities, including the killings of Jews, Ukrainians and Poles.
“They represent this division as fighting not for Nazi Germany, but fighting for Ukrainian independence, even though there was never any opportunity to fight for any Ukrainian independence,” he said. “They were fighting under German command until the end of World War II.”
He said the heroic interpretation is particularly prevalent in Canada, where many of the division’s members immigrated under a controversial process that was opposed by Jewish groups.”
