BREAKING — Jeremy Corbyn MP has submitted the Gaza Tribunal report to the International Criminal Court. The report documents British complicity in war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide
The Gaza Tribunal Report exposes the full scale of Britain’s complicity in genocide. Complicity demands consequences. That’s why, today, we submitted The Gaza Tribunal report to the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Jeremy Corbyn is recommending that UK ministers are investigated by the International Criminal Court (ICC) in light of government complicity and participation in Israel’s genocide in Gaza detailed in the Gaza Tribunal report.
The report, released on Monday 16 April, found that the UK government has failed in every single legal obligation under treaty and international law, and has been complicit in atrocity crimes – in some instances even being an active participant.
Corbyn told Novara Media: “Complicity demands consequences. In the aftermath of the Iraq War, governments escaped accountability for the role they played in catastrophic human suffering. This time, we must achieve real accountability and real justice for the Palestinian people.”
Corbyn held the Gaza Tribunal in September last year to “uncover the full scale of British complicity in genocide” since October 2023, hearing testimony from witnesses, journalists and survivors, as well as a range of lawyers, whistleblowers and experts in international law.
Corbyn said the report, which he authored along with international law experts Dr Shahd Hammouri and Prof Neve Gordon, will “help cement the government’s legacy as a participant in one of the greatest crimes of our time”.
Recommendations from the report include that the British government should release full licensing and export data on military shipments to Israel to date, along with all legal advice on the government’s assessment of genocide and its obligations to prevent it.
The report also calls for all surveillance footage collected by RAF spy flights over Gaza to be shared with the ICC and International Court of Justice (ICJ), and for the government to cooperate with a full, independent public inquiry into cooperation between the UK and Israel since October 2023, which has the power to question ministers and officials.

Zionism, the Human Parasitoid (Revisited)
Republished just to remind all Americans as fuel prices skyrocket and our economy collapses, we know who to hold accountable–Zionism, the human parasitoid that has attached itself to America.

Ampulex compressa, also known as the Jewel Wasp
The tiny jewel wasp injects a neurotoxic venom into the ganglia of cockroaches, transforming the larger insect into a zombie which willingly allows itself to be transformed into a living host for the next generation of jewel wasps to feed on before emerging into the world, ready to prey on other unsuspecting cockroaches. Israel is the modern-day equivalent of the jewel wasp, a predator which infects its host with mind-altering poison so that it willingly sustains the parasitic intrusion into its being that will eventually take its life. The host, in this case, is the United States. By allowing Israel to turn our nation into a zombified version of what our founding father’s envisioned, we simply facilitate our own collective demise.
The jewel wasp (Ampulex compressa) is what is known as a parasitoid, an organism that, unlike more conventional parasites, ultimately kills its host, the American cockroach (Periplaneta americana).
The attack of the jewel wasp is multi-phased, starting by first stinging the cockroach directly in a part of the central nervous system called the first thoracic ganglion. The wasp’s venom contains gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), an inhibitory neurotransmitter that shuts down the motor neurons, temporarily paralyzing the legs of the cockroach and, in doing so, leaves the host-in-waiting defenseless as the tiny green parasitoid positions itself for the coup de main, plunging its stinger through the soft membranes of the roach’s throat and into its brain, turning the potentially violent host into a compliant zombie.
Some scientists speculate that the injection of GABA into the brain of the cockroach triggers a dopamine-like effect, where the cockroach submits to its fate because of the pleasure it feels from the injection of the venom that will ultimately cost it its life.
Zionism is a Jewish nationalist movement that emerged in Europe in the late 19th century which aimed to establish a homeland for the Jewish people by seizing control of Palestine. Today the vision of Zionism has expanded from an Israel defined by the borders established by United Nations mandate in 1948 to something known as “Greater Israel,” a territory which corresponds to Biblical Israel. While Zionism is generally associated with the government of Israel and its policies, the fact is the greatest expression of Zionism is found in the United States, where American Zionist organizations have sought to hijack the American government and, by extension, the American people, to facilitate the creation of Greater Israel.
The opening of the World Zionist Congress in Jerusalem, 1964
In many ways, the attack of the jewel wasp on the American cockroach resembles the approach taken by American Zionists in transforming the American nation and its people into a zombie-like host for the sustainment of that movement’s odious objectives. In place of a dopamine-inducing venom, the Zionists have weaponized the Holocaust, the genocide perpetrated by Nazi Germany on the Jews of Europe. Norman Finklestein, the son of a Holocaust survivor, writes about this phenomenon in his book, The Holocaust Industry: Reflections on the Exploitation of Jewish Suffering. Finkelstein argues convincingly that the American Jewish establishment—an extension of Zionism—has exploited the Nazi Holocaust for political and financial gain and to further the interests of Israeli Zionists.
In this way, the Holocaust becomes the equivalent of GABA, infecting the brains of the American host and, by distracting it with the fiction that Israel is the logical and legitimate legacy of the Holocaust, paralyzes the American people from rejecting this false association, and positioning it for what follows.
The American people are possessively protective of what they label their sovereign rights, especially those that pertain to the freedoms contained in the first ten amendments of the US Constitution (the Bill of Rights). The Holocaust-GABA injected into the brain of the American people by the Zionists, however, alters the functioning of the collective brains of the American people, dulling their response to stimuli that otherwise would trigger a visceral defensive reaction. In short, the Holocaust-GABA injection carried out by the Zionist parasitoid mutes the neurons of the American host, so they are less active and responsive, leading to the willing forgoing of sovereignty in favor of being eaten alive.
The Jewel Wasp stings an American cockroach
The injection of the GABA-Holocaust venom into the American brain by the Zionist wasp results in several behaviors that should readily be recognized by anyone not so injected as self-destructive in nature. First and foremost is the attack on free speech. By equating the Holocaust to the legitimacy of the Zionist mission, the GABA-Holocaust venom enables the suppression of free speech, that most fundamental American right. Criticism of Zionism becomes criticism of the Holocaust, which then is categorized as inherently antisemitic, leading to the conclusion that criticism of Zionism is in and of itself an antisemitic act.
The Zionist parasitoid then seeks to criminalize this newly defined antisemitism, making any support of those opposed to Zionism a criminal act punishable by arrest and, if one isn’t blessed with American citizenship, deportation. The Zionist parasitoid had dulled the sensibilities of Americans who normally would rally around causes that define the very essence of American civil liberty, such as free speech and due process, to the point where we cheer masked jack-booted thugs disguised as Federal agents snatching people from their homes and off the streets, trying them in kangaroo courts, and shipping them out of the country in total disregard for the rule of law.
This is the death of America.
ICE agents arrest Tufts graduate student Rumeysa Ozturk
And the Zionist parasitoid made this possible.
The GABA-Holocaust venom only dulls the response mechanisms of the host, however. It does not diminish them completely. Given enough appropriate stimuli, the American host can still act in its own best interests. This was recently manifested when the Zionist parasitoid sought to have the US join Israel in a military strike against Iran. Despite considerable pressure being placed on the administration of President Trump by the Zionist parasitoid, negotiations with Iran were chosen as the preferred path.
Peace over war.
But the American host is not yet out of danger. The Zionist parasitoid has planted an egg in the body of the American host known as the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee, or AIPAC. Left to its own devices, AIPAC will seek to take full control of the functioning of its American host, devouring it from the inside out while the American people relish the dopamine effect of the GABA-Holocaust venom the Zionist parasitoid injected into its brain.
The American host was conscious enough to recognize the danger of being led into a war with Iran at the best of the Zionist parasitoid known as Israel.
We must now recognize AIPAC as the lethal embodiment/embedding of the Zionist parasitoid.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu speaks at the annual AIPAC conference, 2018
Before laying its egg in its cockroach host, the jewel wasp delivers three stings: one to paralyze the host, and the second to seize control of the host’s motor neurons. But there is a third sting, one that is critical to the egg-laying process, which is delivered to a specific portion of the host’s body, injecting a substance known as acetylcholine which activates specific motor neurons which cause the cockroach host to extend the middle leg on the side the jewel wasp had chosen to lay its egg. When the cockroach folds up its middle leg, the wasp cannot explore the surface with its sensory hairs to find the sweet spot for its egg. By taking control of the neural circuit that causes middle leg extension, the jewel wasp overcomes the last defense the host has to become a zombie. Without the leg extension, the egg would not set, and the roach would avoid becoming a living host to that which would eventually kill it.
Some cockroaches act passively when confronted by a jewel wasp, enabling the three stings to occur without issue, ensuring the extension of the middle leg, and the laying of the egg. Others, however, opt to confront the jewel wasp, and in doing so facilitate their survival, even if the first two stings are made. Some roaches retain enough ability to react to dangerous stimuli so that they not only keep their middle leg folded up, but also kick back against the jewel wasp, eventually causing the wasp to leave in search of a more compliant target.
The American people have been stung twice by the Zionist parasitoid. But we have, so far, avoided the third, fatal sting. This was proven when the Trump administration withstood the pressure from Zionist Israel to attack Iran.
We now must start kicking back against the Zionist parasitoid, flinging it from our body, preventing that third, fatal sting, and denying it the ability to have the AIPAC egg take control of our American body.
A freshly hatched Jewel Wasp emerges from the corpse of its American cockroach host
I recently posted on my X account that “AIPAC is an unregistered foreign agent whose continued existence poses an existential threat to the survival of America.”
This is as true a statement, and vivid an articulation of the threat as one can make.
“American,” I concluded, “needs to wake up and take action before it’s too late.”
The Zionist parasitoid has already delivered two deadly stings that have infected our nation with the GABA-Holocaust venom and which has us destroying the very defenses of free speech and due process we rely upon to survive as a free and sovereign democracy.
The AIPAC egg is waiting in the wings to be inserted and then to consume any notion of a free and independent people who aspire to the promise and vision of our founding fathers.
We need to start kicking back.
AIPAC is fatal to America.
And the Zionist parasitoid is an enemy of the American people.
And by Zionist parasitoid, I mean the state of Israel.
This is not an antisemitic trope.
This is a call to action for American patriots everywhere to save our great nation.
Don’t become Zionist zombies.
Fight back.
Make America great again.
Before it is too late.

Ritter’s Rant 081: Buck Ass Naked
Mar 16, 2026
Like the Emperor in the children’s tale “The Emperor has No Clothes”, Donald Trump stands naked before the world, exposed as a fraud, his narrative of an all-powerful America replaced with the reality of a morbidly obese old man.
Transkripzioa:
Hello and welcome to this edition of Ritter’s Rant. Today I’m going to be talking about the emperor having no clothes. We’re all familiar with the children’s tale of the emperor who was just parading around in front of his subjects claiming to be the best dressed man in the world when in fact he was buck-ass naked.
Didn’t have anything on. Now his subjects didn’t have anything to say to him because they were afraid. They were like, you look wonderful, you look beautiful, it’s all great. It was this little kid, though, who wasn’t going to play that game. And he shouted out, you have no clothes, you’re naked. It was the truth.
And that’s where we are today. The emperor, of course, is Donald Trump and by extension, the United States. And we are posturing around the world as if we’re the greatest thing that ever walked a planet. And the audience is sort of sitting there saying, no, you’re buck ass naked. You don’t have any clothes. You got nothing.
And it’s embarrassing, but it’s the truth. You know, the United States has enjoyed a privileged position in the world, especially since the end of the Second World. First of all, we’re blessed from a geographical position. We have a landmass that has tremendous amount of resources. We’re protected by two oceans.
It’s very difficult for our enemies to come to us. And of course, we’ve built, you know, we’ve developed this naval power, which makes it easy for us to get to our enemies. And we’ve exploited this. We used it to help win the Second World War together with the Soviet Union against
Nazi Germany and pretty much on our own against Imperial Japan. And then at the end of the Second World War, we used this unmatched economic and political and military power to promote ourselves as the leader of the free world, facing off against the evil communists in the Soviet Union and China and elsewhere.
And in 1991, the Cold War ended. Soviet Union went away, and America emerged as a sole remaining superpower. Now, at that point in time, logic would have dictated that we reassess where we are in the world, who we are, and what the world is.
you know a significant period of time since the second world war ended but we weren’t willing to do that what we said is we want to not only retain our status as the leader of the free world but we want to become the global hegemon we are the
number one power and we will always be the number one power in fact Some American philosophers, political philosophers, talked about the end of history because America was the perfect nation. American democracy was the epitome of everything mankind should ever aspire to. So there was no reason to have development. We had reached the apex.
It was as good as it was going to get. That, of course, was a lie. What we found out is that the United States, in seeking to hold on to the status as a global hegemon, we ended up being in opposition to the rest of the world, which was adjusting to new realities, new economic developments,
new social developments, new Nations that were once subordinated to the United States, afraid to speak out, were suddenly empowered by new wealth, new technologies, new alliances, new realities. And they started to stand up and say, time out. We’re not with you on this one. We have our own way of doing business.
A new multipolarity reality was starting to descend on the world. And it ran in opposition to American hegemony. And this is sort of a conflict that’s been existing for some time as America starts to retract. The American empire starts to shrink, collapse in on itself and hopefully lose the status of empire and become one of many strong,
powerful nations among the family of nations in the world, the international community. It’s not impossible to see this. In fact, we have a framework for this, United Nations, United Nations Charter. It’s a body of international law agreements that the United States already plays a significant role in.
If we were truly the power that we think we were, the power of good, We would seek to use our status as a member of the Security Council, one of five permanent members, not to veto legislation we disagreed with, but rather to lead nations through the difficult task of diplomacy to resolve problems without a veto.
There’s no need to veto if you can sit down and speak responsibly with people about coming up with a compromise solution, a consensus solution that moves us forward, ever forward, and that’s the direction we want to go. But that’s not what America wants. We want to hold on to power. And so we veto, so we obstruct,
so we interfere with, we degrade, we denigrate, we attack, we declare war. Or in some cases, we go to war without declaring war. And that’s where we find ourselves today, in a confrontation with Iran that just doesn’t need to happen, didn’t need to happen, couldn’t have happened.
There’s no reason for this war to have taken place other than the United States’ blind support for a greater Israel, an irresponsible Israel, a nation that has mirrored America’s gross irresponsibility when it comes to interfacing with the world seeking to impose themselves on their regional neighbors without any consideration about the legitimate aspirations of those neighbors.
And so now the United States is at war with Iran. If you’re going to go to war, you better win the war. This is one of the basic laws of mankind. If you’re going to get involved in an existential fight, Existential meaning if you lose, you die. You better win, which means you should be prepared to win,
which means that before you make the decision to initiate contact with the enemy, you’ve thought through every possible ramification. And if in doing so you determine, hey, we may not win, don’t start an existential fight. The United States has been posturing around the world as if we are this superpower. We have the greatest military in the world.
We tell you all the time, you should believe us. We have the greatest military in the world. We have the strongest economy in the world. You should believe us because we’re saying that we have the strongest economy and we have the best system of government in the world. American democracy is the best.
Nobody’s better than us because we tell you so. We tell you how well dressed we are, how nice our clothes are. But Iran has stood up and said, nah, you’re buck ass naked. You’ve got nothing. You’ve got no clothes. It looks like Iran is correct. You know, If you’re going to go to war with Iran,
you should at least think through the ramifications of this decision. The Iranians have been saying for some time now what they would do if we chose to go to war, the price we would pay. Instead of believing the Iranians, we dismiss them. We diminish them. We belittle them. They can’t do this. They’re very weak.
They don’t have the missiles they claim to have. Their government is very fragile. All we have to do is snap our fingers, blow three times, the house comes down. And we can run in and take over. We don’t need to worry about shutting the Strait of Hormuz because it’ll never get to that.
We don’t need to worry about attacks on regional energy infrastructure because it will never get to that. We don’t need to worry about Israel being pounded to death because it’ll never get to that. We will eliminate the regime on day one and everything will fall into place because we’re well dressed.
We’re the emperor and we say it will be so. Any military leader knows that that’s just not how you plan a military operation. You don’t go to war on a hope and a prayer. You go to war based upon sound analysis that’s derived from fact based assessments of the resources available, both yours and the potential enemies.
you have to think think through every possible outcome you have to be prepared for any deviation from the plan because no plan survives initial contact with the enemy first law of warfare what you think is going to happen isn’t going to happen and you need to be prepared for all eventual outcomes especially if they are relatively
predictable such as the closure of the straight or her moves and what the consequences of that would be on the global economy and on your ability to continue the conflict because of now global pressures being brought to bear to terminate the conflict so that the Strait could open up. This is where Donald Trump is today.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff warned him before he went to war that we could not keep the Strait of Hormuz open. The Director of National Intelligence warned the President through an assessment published through the National Intelligence Council that Iran’s regime would not collapse. They were warned by everybody, the president and his advisors,
that Iran had a very robust self-defense capability, including ballistic missiles that would be able to strike targets outside of Iran, punishing the erstwhile allies of the United States. We were told that we didn’t have sufficient ability to defend ourselves from these missiles. And if this war went on for any length of time, we would burn through
Our capability to defend ourselves while the Iranians retain significant capabilities to bring harm to us. The military knew this, the intelligence community knew this, but they told this to the president who didn’t listen. What they were telling the president is you don’t have the clothes you think you have.
You’re not as well dressed as you think you are. We may not want to organize this parade because if you go out before this public, someone’s going to point out the fact that you’re buck ass naked. That’s where we are today. President Trump standing before the world, bus buck ass naked. Got no clothes on, ladies and gentlemen.
The United States is naked. We’ve been exposed as a fraud. We are not the superpower that we claim to be. Our economy is not as strong as we claim to be. Our military is not as capable as we claim to be. And if you take a look at what’s happening here in the United States,
our political system is not as robust as we claimed it to be. This is bad news for the United States. And hopefully we can bring him into this war and get back to the business, get down to the basics. Maybe we don’t need to dress like an emperor anymore.
Maybe we need just to put on the clothes of the average working class person. There’s nothing dishonorable being part of the larger community. Who knows? We get our act together, save some money. We can buy some better clothes. Maybe we can go out to dinner and hang out with with a better crowd. But for the meantime,
Anything we do to clothe ourselves responsibly is better than standing buck-ass naked in front of the world. The emperor has no clothes. This is a shameful moment in American history. Anyways, that’s my rant. The next time a thought crosses my mind, I’m sure to let you know.

Ritter’s Rant 082: Fool Around, Find Out
Trump started this war. The American people yawned. Iran is finishing it. The American people wake up. But it is too late–we fooled around, and we are about to find out.
Mar 18, 2026
Transkripzioa:
Hello and welcome to this episode of Ritter’s Rant. Today we’re going to be talking about fooling around and finding out. I don’t know what was going through President Donald Trump’s mind when he agreed to Benjamin Netanyahu’s desire to launch a military attack against Iran.
He had been briefed by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff that the United States lacked the military capacity to achieve the objectives that were being laid out, that regime change was an impossibility, and that Iran wasn’t going to fold like a house of cards, that Iran had resilience,
and that Iran wouldn’t lash out and hold to account those who attacked, that Iran would pound Israel mercilessly, Iran would devastate the American military installations in the region, and Iran would punish those Gulf Arab states who had aligned themselves with the U.S.-Israeli axis in the attack on Israel. He was told by the director of national intelligence,
Tulsi Gabbard, that, you know, by killing Ali Khamenei, the supreme leader, all you would do is make Iran stronger. You would just cause the people to rally even more closely around, you know, the Islamic Republic. And that you weren’t going to achieve the objectives, that the Strait of Hormuz could be closed, could be closed.
And if the United States lacked the capacity to open it, that this would strangle global energy markets. And moreover, that if a decision was made to strike Iranian energy infrastructure, that Iran would destroy the totality of the Middle East energy, destroy, not disrupt, not halt, destroy. And this will collapse the global energy based economy.
The president was told this. And yet he went along with it anyways. Now, the president claims that he has told Israel not to strike Iranian energy infrastructure. But Israel has disregarded this. First, they struck oil terminals outside of Tehran, leading to horrific scenes where oil was burning freely in the sewage systems of
Tehran and where acid rain was falling down on the people. But today, Israel went a step too far. Today, Israel struck the South Pars gas field, one of the largest gas fields in the world, the largest producing gas field for Iran. South Pars provides new gas. Gas is responsible for 90 percent of Iran’s domestic energy requirements.
Iran exports gas. And now Israel has struck this most important of Iran’s critical energy infrastructure. Now, the Iranians have been threatening that you strike us, we strike you. Maybe Donald Trump thought they were bluffing. I don’t know why he would think they were bluffing because Iran has fulfilled every
threat that it has made in response to the U.S.-Israeli aggression. Tel Aviv is being turned upside down. The American installations in the region have been basically neutered. And all of the Gulf Arab states now shiver in fear under Iranian missiles that cannot be intercepted by American interceptors.
now iran has fulfilled its promise it is striking the critical energy infrastructure of the gulf arab nations saudi arabia’s aramco facility critical oil production facilities united arab emirates kuwait bahrain guitars gas production all of these are now under attack and these attacks won’t stop until these facilities are eliminated in their token totality
The world has no idea what just about what has happened. This is literally Armageddon. This is the end of the world as we know it. Some nations like the United States and Russia, of course, are energy self-sufficient, but most of the world is not.
And there is no ready energy replacement for the energy that’s about to be consumed in a ball of apocalyptic fire. This war is going to haunt the world for decades to come. Energy security will never be the same. Mark this day on your calendars. Go out and take a look at gas prices.
It’s the last time they will be this low, and they’re not that low right now. A week and a half ago, I was spending $3.11 for a gallon of 87% octane. Today, when I filled up my car, $3.79. It will never be this low. because all hell has broken loose.
The nations that produce energy in the Middle East will no longer be producing energy in the Middle East. What this says about their future, I don’t know, but I will say this. It is highly unlikely that the Gulf Arab monarchies will survive this catastrophe because these spoiled perfume princes who were installed by the British a century
or so ago only survive because of the extreme wealth that they’re able to accumulate because of the oil and gas under their soil. When they’re not able to bring this wealth up and sell it, what are they? Just another group of corrupt individuals with no connectivity to the people they lead, and their days will be numbered.
this is going to lead to regional not just transformation but chaos anarchy but it doesn’t matter because once you eliminate the energy produced by these nations they become irrelevant absolutely irrelevant but what’s about china who needs this energy what about india who needs this energy what about asia that needs this
energy the disruption on global markets will be catastrophic europe they have no clue what is about what has just happened you know this pretense that they will never buy russian energy again no they’re going to be begging russia to sell them energy but russia may not want to sell them energy
because russia will be needing to provide energy to nations that didn’t betray it that didn’t turn its back on them nations like thailand indonesia and other asian nations that are now desperate for energy resources that they can no longer get from the middle east
in the United States will ultimately pay one of the highest prices as our energy prices spike. This will lead to catastrophic supply chain issues as shipping adjusts to the fact that we may not have enough diesel or whatever diesel we have is going to be priced out of the market,
meaning we’re not going to have fresh vegetables and fruits and produce shipped around the country the way that we have had it. You know, what can I say? President Trump fooled around and the American people are about to find out. You know, it wasn’t enough for us to slaughter Iranian children in the initial attack.
It wasn’t enough for us to have our Secretary of War brag about hitting a thousand targets a day. A thousand targets a day we were hitting with American weapons inside Iran. That didn’t wake the American people up. It doesn’t matter that the United States has betrayed every ally in the world.
None of this matters because nobody in America cares. Nobody in America gives a damn about what’s going on in the world because we’re ignorant about the world we live in. All we care about is our own creature comforts. Well, guess what? President Trump fooled around and the American people are going to find out those
creature comforts are going to start costing you an arm and a leg as energy prices spike. And this war hits you where it matters, not in the heart, because the American people simply don’t have a heart anymore. We don’t have a moral compass. What we have is greed and avarice.
Desire for comforts, creature comforts that only money can buy. Now we’re about to find these creature comforts to be priced out of our range. And then and only then will we wake up, but it’ll be too late. Pull around, find out. That’s my rant.
The next time a thought crosses my mind, I’ll be sure to let you know.

Professor Katchanovski’s two recent books – “The Russia-Ukraine War and its Origins” and “Maidan Massacre” are very high on my recommendations list. I read both. Professor Katchanovski’s groundbreaking research reveals how Ukraine became a US-client state in 2014 following the Maidan coup.
Transkripzioa:
ending the war for Zelensky would mean kind of negative very negative consequences to him but not to ukrainians so in this regatta this is very clear that Zelensky is not the same as ukraine and ukrainians because his interest actually is very different from interests of ukrainians and and ukraine as a state and and i think he
And for this reason, he wants to prolong this war as long as possible and stay in power as long as possible, because otherwise he is in danger. And even his not only freedom, but also life can be in danger if he would be, again, and other kind of factions in Ukraine. People are killed, they are abducted.
There are a lot of videos, and this is totally ignored by the Western media, by Western politicians who claim that they support Ukraine and Ukrainians. But actually, this is the opposite. I regard this as very anti-Ukanian policy, because this is very clear that this is not… what the Ukrainians want.
This has a very negative effect on the Ukrainians and Ukrainians. Even so, this is beneficial for Zelensky, which is for this reason he is supported by the West.
Hello, everybody. I’m Lena Petrova with a new episode of World Affairs in Context. Today, I’m very pleased to welcome Dr. Ivan Kachanovsky, a Ukrainian-Canadian academic at the University of Ottawa. Professor Kachanovsky’s two recent books, The Russia-Ukraine War and Its Origins, and The Maidan Massacre are very high on my recommendations list.
Professor Kachanovsky’s groundbreaking research reveals how Ukraine became a U.S. client state in 2014 following the Maidan coup. Please do yourself a favor and read these two books to learn what the official narrative tries very, very hard to conceal. Professor Kachanovsky, welcome back. It’s so great to have you back on the program.
Thank you for the invitation and thank you for the recommendation to read my books. They are open access. They are freely available for anybody who is interested to read, to download, to share and to republish. There was a recent publication of French translation of my book about the Maidan massacre.
And there is also a German translation of this book and a German translation already of my book about the Russia-Ukraine war. And there are other translations in progress. So I think there are already, I think, more than one million views and downloads of my two books online, which is quite incredible for academic publications like this.
Absolutely. And I will link both of the books in the video description below for our viewers to download them. And I will also link your profile on X or former Twitter. I follow you and you’re very, very active there. And so it’s very helpful to see updates from you regarding Ukraine and the peace negotiations.
So I will link all of that in the description below. You know, at the moment, the United States is engaged in not just one war, its proxy war on Russia via Ukraine, but also it’s now a belligerent in a new war on Iran. And so at this time,
it may be safe to say that both wars are Trump’s wars, despite the fact that he ran on a pro-peace and anti-foreign interventions platforms. With respect to the war in Ukraine, there are so many things that I would like to discuss with you today, such as the status of peace negotiations,
the brutal forced mobilization by Zelensky’s regime across Ukraine. Men are literally hiding. And I would also like to discuss what Zelensky is really after. When, you know, four years into this war, he still continues to decline, ceding the four oblasts. Let’s begin with a really revealing article that was recently published in Foreign Affairs.
The article is titled, Ukraine is losing the war with Moscow pressing its advantage. Kiev should trade land for peace. In my opinion, it was very shocking to see this very simple truth in a Western outlet. Professor Kachanovsky, do you feel that the majority of Ukrainians would prefer a negotiated settlement right now,
I think this was an important revelation that this article was published in Foreign Affairs magazine, because the Western media was one of the most important, most significant and major cheerleaders of this war. and they often misrepresented this war its origins and i examine this misrepresentation i examine narratives promoted by the western russian and
ukrainian governments in the media about this work and how they misrepresented this conflict for variety of reasons and specifically political reasons and the western media which supposed to be free media actually just presented a view which was based on views of the governments, basically Western and Ukrainian governments, and not actually based on reality.
So they claimed that Ukraine was winning the war. From the start, they now claim that, again, Ukraine is not defeated, is not being defeated, that there is a stalemate in this war, or Ukraine is making advances and would still be able to defeat Russia. But I think it was clear from the start,
from the very start of this conflict, which I mentioned in my social media comments, in my publications, in my media interviews, that Ukraine would not be able to win this war, because Russia has military advantage over Ukraine. And even after this war became a proxy war, with support of Western countries, which provided weapons to Ukraine,
provided military intelligence to Ukraine, and still provided this intelligence and weapons, but also provided economic support. So this means this only prolonged this war for a much longer time, now more than four years. Even so, Ukraine could not have been able to
contain Russia or to, again, to wage this war for such a long time without Western support. So now this acknowledgment in this article, which was, I think, just basically what is any rational person who actually believes in evidence and not believes in propaganda would believe from the start of this conflict.
But I think in terms of views of Ukrainians, I think this is also an important issue, which I examine in my book about the Russian-Ukraine war and its origins. It’s actually not easy to know views of Ukrainians on this issue because there is no freedom of expression in the Ukraine.
So Ukrainians are afraid to say anything which will be against the government line. So there is no free media. you have one television marathon which is basically government propaganda non-stop on all television channels and this is just they talk about you can victory they
talk about russian defeat and so on which again has very little bit of reality but a lot of people has have no alternative especially all the people or people outside of cities and so on they just have to rely on this television uh marathon as the only source or major source of the
information so they are actually not able actually to know a real situation which is very difficult situation for ukraine And so in this regard also public opinion posts I don’t regard as reliable in this case because people are not able to express their opinion on this issue and this
public opinion posts are also limited in terms of number of people and people actually whom they are able to poll because people in Donbas and people in other regions of Ukraine which are occupied or annexed by Russia are not able to express their views on this issue. And I think this also applies to a lot of refugees.
and who fled Ukraine to other countries, but also specifically not only to Western countries or countries like Poland and Slovakia and Hungary or Romania, but also to countries like Russia. There is a very large number of Ukrainians who fled this war to Russia.
So their views also are not expressed by the media, not expressed in public opinion polls. And they are historically pro-Russian regions and especially Donbass. This applies to Donbass, Treaty of Donbass. According to a public opinion poll, which I commissioned in Spring of 2014 on this issue,
which was actually the last public opinion poll which was conducted before such public opinion polls could not be conducted in Donbass since there was a war starting in this region at that time. And so this public opinion poll, which was conducted by Kiev International Institute of Sociology,
showed that in Donbass there was an absolute majority of people who supported various forms of separatism. which included secession from Ukraine, joining Russia. Some of them supported unilateral autonomy in the federal Ukraine, which was rejected by the Ukrainian government at the time and still rejected now. So I think based on these public opinion polls,
before the war, which were much more reliable than what we have now. I can say, and also based on my research on this topic in the book, which I published based on my dissertation about views of Ukrainian from these issues. In the book called Krav Kantis, Regional Political Divisions and Cultures in Ukraine and Moldova,
post-Soviet Ukraine and Moldova. So I can say that actually in Donbass, it’s very likely that most people in Donbass support joining Russia and they support, they have pro-Russian attitudes, they support joining Russia and supported annexation of this region of Ukraine by Russia. And so in this case, the use of people in Donbas, they are, I think,
in support of Ukrainian forces, withdrawal from the remaining part of Donbas and ending this war. And because they support Russian government policy, basically now most of them, even so you have also a minority of people who do not agree with this and support Ukrainian government policy. But the majority of people in Donbass support this view.
This is my research-based conclusion. But in terms of views of other Ukrainians in other regions of the Ukraine, it’s more difficult to say from this perspective because, again, as I mentioned, people are not able to say this. And even if they would say, if they ask such question,
even if they would say publicly even on social media or even public opinion polls they can face persecution for saying this because this is against ukrainian law to publicly support kind of just kind of such basically such territorial concessions or territorial changes so this means that people would be arrested they can be persecuted
or they can face a variety of other negative consequences, including attacks from far right and also denunciation by their neighbors and also arrest and persecution of criminal charges. For this reason, a lot of people are not able to say this, even though they might have such a view,
but they cannot say this publicly because this could have very negative consequences for them. Just one example of this. I think about two years ago, there were like two popular bloggers in Ukraine, Ukrainian bloggers who just did not publish anything about politics, about war in Russia.
But they published about some kind of other issues like beauty and some other stuff, like songs and so on, music. But they called for a peaceful deal to end this war. And afterwards, one of them had to flee to Spain because he was threatened for calling for peace
and ending the war because of negative consequences to the Ukraine. Because this became very dangerous for him, so he fled from the Ukraine to Spain, illegally, again, causing the border to Spain. Ukraine overboard and then going to Spain. And another female blogger, again, very popular blogger in Ukraine had to issue public apology and say that she
supported this war, again, until victory after she was visited by the security service of Ukraine. And so she admitted that basically after talking to security service of you can change her opinion. So this is again just an example. So even people cannot say this on social media.
And the same applies to people who try to do this even in public opinion polls, which are now conducted over telephone. And so a lot of people just afraid to express this opinion. But I believe that there is actually an actual majority of people who support ending this war.
And if they knew actually the real situation on this front, they would support basically ending this war because there is no real possibility of winning the war. And each day of this war just brings more negative consequences, brings more Ukrainian soldiers killed, and without any real possibility of changing outcome of this war,
which was very clear from the start that Ukraine would be defeated. The only question is how much and what kind of defeat there would be for the UK. Peaceful resolution of this conflict was possible in Istanbul. Actually, four years ago, in March of 2022, There were negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul,
and there was a real possibility of ending this war as a part of peace deal, which could have given Ukraine opportunity to, again, to end this war, to save lives of more than 100,000 Ukrainian soldiers and even more. many civilians, thousands of civilians, and destruction of energy, infrastructure, and other kind of negative consequences to Ukraine.
But Zelensky refused to do such a peace deal under pressure from the Western countries, specifically from British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Biden administration and other countries like in Europe. And the same applies now. I think the similar situation is right now. And even so, Trump publicly calls for a peaceful resolution of this conflict.
And there is no actually real pressure from Trump on Zelensky. But there is support for continuation of this war by European Union countries, by United Kingdom. The publicly called for… who are fighting Russia, again, trying to weaken Russia, or they issue demands which could not be acceptable to, again, Russia. And this means just, again,
like paying reparations or deployment of peacekeepers and so on, which means they touch torpedoes, this peaceful revolution of this conflict. And also in the United States, there is a very significant faction of both Republicans and Democrats who support continuation of this war because for them this is just a good opportunity to weaken
Russia and they use Ukraine and Ukraine just as tools to fight Russia and weaken Russia without sacrificing lives of American soldiers which is now you can see this has become very dangerous in case of Iran but for them this is like very best option to use Ukraine and Ukraine to again weaken Russia without moving to direct
confrontation with Russia which is a major nuclear Pawe.
The peace talks have been reportedly suspended due to the US-Israel war of aggression on Iran. But it is clear that it’s not the war in Iran that’s the main obstacle. It is the inability of all parties, of all actors to come to an agreement that is acceptable to all involved. And as you just mentioned,
Europe is increasingly trying to assert itself as a key player in these talks. And Europe is making it very clear that and really by Europe, I’m mostly referring to the EU, is really trying to sort of present any peace deal as a defeat of Ukraine and a major win for Russia,
where peace would be a win for all sides, and especially for Ukraine, a country that’s that’s already destroyed and clearly unable to win this militarily. But what do you make of the pause in peace talks at the moment?
I think a peaceful resolution of this conflict is the best option for Ukraine. And the representation of this war, again, as beneficial for Ukraine, as good for Ukraine, is actually not by the Western politicians. Again, it’s not based on reality. This is based on their own interest to continue this war.
and so they claim that you can defeat russia and so on and they claim that peace deal on the terms which were issued and made public by ukrainian government and ukrainian media after meeting between trump and putin in encourage in alaska to resolve this war peacefully they said this was basically capitulation of ukraine
But capitulation is not what you can see in this proposal of peaceful resolution of the conflict. This was just a blueprint for a peace deal which could affect reality on the ground. I think Trump accepted this and Putin agreed to compromise as a part of peace deal to end this war.
And so there was a real possibility of a peaceful resolution of this conflict after a meeting between Donald Trump and Putin in Alaska. But I think for a variety of reasons, now the negotiations came to a deadlock because for Zelensky, again, it’s beneficial to continue this war. He gets a chance to stay in office.
after his presidential term expired already. So there are no elections. And he gets also support, military support, political support from the Western countries now, especially European Union countries and United Kingdom. And even Donald Trump still provides weapons to Zelensky and his military forces and also provides intelligence information to target Russian soldiers. military targets and infrastructure, oil infrastructure,
and even oil tankers, which were hit by, again, Ukrainian forces. And this is, I think, kind of a crucial moment in this peace talks, because this is a real chance now to end this war. because Trump promised that he wanted to end this war and to have negotiations.
And Trump has the power to end this war basically by using his leverage over Zelensky. And nearly total dependence of Zelensky on Western economic And military support, which is now still directly provided by the United States, but also directly given information by the United States about intelligence information, about targets to hit, and so on.
And there are other kinds of support provided by the U.S. and Western countries. And since Ukraine is client state of the United States, so U.S. has a leverage of Zelensky to, again, to just… told him basically to accept a peace deal and end this war. But Zelensky, he refused to basically kind of budge on this issue.
He continues to say there would be no territorial compromise with Russia as a part of this peace deal. He says that he would not withdraw forces from the remaining part of Donbas because there are now approximately, he said, I think around 200,000 people live in this area, which is still not occupied by Russia, but even so, Russia,
and this region, which was a separatist region, there was a civil war there since 2014, and also Russian military interventions in support of separatists. Zelensky refuses to do this, and he claims that he does this to support Ukrainians in Donbass, but as I said before, actually, a public opinion poll before,
The context in 2014 showed that the majority of people in Donbass supported various forms of separation from Ukraine. In this case, this is not actually supporting Ukrainians. Even in Donbass, this is a very different kind of situation. For this reason, I think peace talks now in deadlock because Trump
just does not want to kind of use leverage over Zelensky and to kind of make this peaceful resolution of this war happen, even though he has such ability. And I think he does this for a variety of reasons, and one which is political because it’s a strong function.
in both Republican Party but also in Democratic Party and in other countries, NATO members like the United Kingdom and France and Germany to continue this war in order to weaken Russia. So in this case, he does not want to kind of… to pressure basically Zelensky to end this contract, even though he has such a possibility.
And this can be done, not just the pressure, again, using illegal means like abduction of Maduro in Venezuela, which was done by Trump, or assassination of leaders of Iran and so on, or regime change in Cuba, which Trump openly calls for. I don’t think this is going to happen in the case of Zelensky,
but there is such possibility of using elections, basically just calling for elections in Ukraine. which can lead to change of the government of Ukraine and more people who would have a possibility to again sign a peace deal and to end this war might replace Zelensky or he can be also replaced by parliament of Ukraine because actually in
Ukrainian constitution Ukrainian political system is parliamentary presidential system in which parliament has more power than president but now Zelensky took basically powers which are not in constitution, so he basically put parliament under his control, he dismissed constitutional court, exiled head of constitutional court of Ukraine, so there is no division of power,
and Zelensky became basically de facto dictator of Ukraine, and so he is able to kind of Without any real opposition in Ukraine, he is able to continue this war because nobody is able to challenge him. And I think in this case, this is also very negative consequences to Ukraine because there is no real
opposition and chances that he can be replaced again. by ukrainians are very small so i think this is i think also a very difficult situation and especially now because uh attention of the world and attention of thumb now move from ukraine uh first to israel to war in gaza
and now to war in Iran, which was launched by the United States and Israel. And now, again, is the most important conflict in terms of media attention. Even so, if you look into the importance of the conflict from a perspective of global perspective and historical perspective, the war in the UK is much more important,
much more significant because it involves much bigger countries, with much more significant consequences. and potentially not only on Ukraine, but also many other countries of the world. And this war is also proxy war between West and Russia, not only war between Russia and Ukraine, but also there is still continuation of a civil war in Donbass.
which is also almost never reported by the media because, for instance, recently there was a report by a Ukrainian official who stated that every sixth member or every sixth person who is a prisoner of war in Ukrainian captivity which means from Russian forces, is actually a citizen of Ukraine. These are people from Donbass and from Crimea,
and to a lesser extent from other regions which are annexed by Russia, and so they are fighting on the Russian side. This is not only war between Russia and Ukraine, but also still a civil war which continues in Ukraine since 2014. And in Ukraine, it’s illegal to say that there was a civil war.
They claim this was a war with Russia since 2014, but it’s, I think, almost immediately clear that war which started in 2022 by Russia, the illegal invasion of Ukraine, is not actually the war which was taking place before in Donbas. And in Donbas, the majority of people in the separatist formations in Donbas,
according to all the evidence which was publicly available, They were local Ukrainians from Donbass and to a lesser extent from other regions of the UK. But there was also Russian military interventions in Donbass in 2014, in August of 2014, and in winter 2015. But this was classic civil war. with foreign intervention.
So I think it’s very important to understand actually what are conditions and what is the situation actually in conflict, in terms of conflict, in terms of participants, to understand how this war can be peacefully resolved. And now for the reason which I mentioned, Again, it’s now much more problematic than before,
because at the start of the peace talks, there was a real chance to end this war, but the peace talks are now continuing, and the new around was supposed to happen actually today. But this new round of peace talks was postponed because of the war in Iran.
And there are also some media reports stating that peace talks are now, again, at a very crucial moment because Russia threatened to basically end peace talks if the UK would not accept this agreement with the UK forces from Donbass. And in such case, Russia would just end peace talks.
And this is still a real possibility that this can happen.
Right. And I was wondering if Russia is reading the clues from how the United States conducts itself when it negotiates with other countries. And here, of course, I have Iran in mind, because in June of 2025, the United States and Iran were engaged in negotiations that had related to Iran’s nuclear program.
A peaceful nuclear program, I should clarify. And at the time, the United States launched a strike or an attack on Iran during negotiations. So effectively, it used negotiations as a ruse, as a sort of a way to make Iran believe that there wasn’t going to be an attack, and then they attacked Iran. And now in February,
the United States and Israel effectively did the same thing when they attacked on Saturday. And the following Monday, State Secretary Marco Rubio was supposed to meet with the Iranian counterparts to continue the negotiations.
So I wonder if Russia is looking at this and thinking maybe the United States isn’t to be trusted.
Maybe it’s not an honest broker in peace negotiations. What are your thoughts on that?
Yeah, I think this is also a major issue because Putin previously accused Western countries and Ukrainian government in refusal to implement Minsk agreements. Also, in other cases, again, not to expand NATO. to Ukraine and Georgia, which was done, continued assurances by Western governments.
So there was membership in NATO was promised to Ukraine and Georgia in 2008 in the Bucharest summit. And also there was also expansion of NATO in Baltic states and eastern and other countries from the Warsaw Pact like Poland and so on. So again, Russia regards this kind of as problematic.
So Putin specifically accused the West and the Ukrainian government as being not trustworthy. And the Ukrainian government also said, and the Western government also said that Russia violated the Budapest memorandum. when Ukraine agreed in 1994 to disband their nuclear weapons, which were on the Ukrainian territory from the Soviet Union times,
but were not under control of Ukrainian forces. They were just de facto under control of Russia. So, Ukraine could not use nuclear weapons under their territory, and so they had to either destroy these weapons or to send them to Russia. There was a Budapest memorandum, but Budapest memorandum was not a legal kind of a deal.
It was not legal obligation to, again, to defend Ukraine or to to provide security guarantees as was claimed. And I think the similar situation is with other potential agreements because any peace deal which could be accepted even if we would sign the peace deal right now to end this war,
it would be very difficult to guarantee that this peace deal would be implemented because this already happened with Minsk agreements which provided much better conditions for Ukraine to end the conflict in Donbass. Zelensky actually promised to sign a peace deal and to end the war via peaceful
negotiations when he ran for president of Ukraine in 2019 and defeated Poroshenko who was doing opposite, who tried to play this nationalist card of language, military force, army and religion. So Zelensky actually When he came to power and won elections, he made a U-turn, and he completely abandoned his agreements, his election promises to end the war,
and under pressure from the West, from also far-right, who started him. And so now he became what I call Brashenko’s steroids. And so he tries to… Even more extreme than Poroshenko, whom he admitted and whom he promised to, again, whose policies he renounced during election campaign,
but now became even more kind of hardline and militaristic in this regard. And nationalistic, even so, he does not believe in this stuff. I think he just plays this for his own… kind of image and for his own benefit because this is beneficial for him.
So I think this is a very difficult situation in this regard for Ukraine and I think also any peaceful resolution would be very difficult to implement unless there would be real kind of motivations and real kind of interest of countries like the United States and Western European countries and Ukraine and Russia to kind of observe this agreement.
But there is no guarantee that this would happen. Any security guarantees also which could be issued to the UK, there’s no possibility that nobody can force the United States government to implement them. And just if you’re looking now in the way in Iran, just one example of this, Again,
Middle Eastern countries which have military bases of the United States, on their territory, they believe that this military bases would give them protection in case of any war like this, especially with Iran. But actually what happened is that Iran strikes US military bases and also strikes some energy infrastructure in the countries of the Gulf, in Saudi Arabia,
in Qatar, in Kuwait. in the United Arab Emirates and the United States. Basically, US military basically just withdraw, close this military basis and move their military forces to other locations to minimize their own losses. So basically, this now kind of open. It’s easy to see that actually United States would act in the US interest and not
in interest of other countries. I think the same could apply to Ukraine because there is no kind of any any way to make any peace deal legal and obligatory, because there is no superior government, international government, which has such power. And especially now, when the United States government under Donald Trump now abandon any patterns of international law,
they now openly proclaimed that only American interests would be important for the U.S., and that’s why they illegally kind of kidnapped the president of Venezuela, certain Cuba. This regime change also tried to say that they would annex Greenland from Denmark and also make Canada the 51st state of the United States and also launch war with Iran.
Again, in violation of international law, similar to what Russia did. But again, there is nobody who can challenge in this regard to the United States. And I think this is also very dangerous because any peaceful agreement, even if it be signed, there is no guarantee that it will be implemented. And for this reason,
I think a lot of governments, including Russian government and Ukrainian governments, they kind of believe that They need to have force, basically, to show force and to pressure other governments to accept a peace deal on their terms. And in this regard, Russia has much bigger chances of implementing this because Russia has advantage over the UK.
It is able to check mortality over the UK over time, and it is able to defeat the UK, which is already clear that Russia is defeating the UK because the UK lost… almost 20% of its integrity, and there is no possibility of defeating Russia in this regard.
So I think any peace deal which would be acceptable against Russia would be on Russian terms, and you can either refuse to do this, as Zelensky tries to do this now, but in such case, or to agree to this deal. But if Zelensky would refuse to accept this peace deal now,
conditions for any future peace deal would be much worse for Ukraine without any real possibility of improvement, without any significant possibility of defeating Russia and taking back a territory which is occupied or annexed by Russia. So in this case, I think, again, it’s very clear
from a such perspective that peaceful resolution is best still but i think it’s still a very tough situation to achieve this and especially negotiations are in this regard i think now became problematic because there is no kind of view Zelensky, and that he really wants to accept the peace deal. For time,
just showing that he wants to have peaceful negotiations, which he prohibited himself from doing with Putin, but now he violates his own law and his own decree. to ban any peaceful negotiations with Putin and he claims that he wants to have peace deal but again terms which he is not able to dictate because actually Ukraine
is not winning the war but Zelensky acts as he basically is winning the war and European Union countries and the United Kingdom supporting him in this regard they also claim that Russia needs to accept agreement on ukrainian terms or european union terms or again european terms which
is not the case i think which basically would not be acceptable to russia so i think this is why any peace peace deal would be i think also kind of not the end of the it might end the war but it might not end the conflict and there will be real possibilities that conflict would again would become
for a long time, like in the case of South North Korea, or it can again become a war, like in the case of the war in Iran, when the first war ended, again in June, but now we have a second war with Iran, which is much bigger compared to the first one. I think in this regard,
it’s also very important to understand that peace talks and peace deal may not be the end of the conflict. between Russia and Ukraine and the ability to observe any peace deal and to adhere to peace deal terms or to negotiate in good faith, actually problematic for the reasons which I described.
Right. And I would agree with you. I think that any peace deal between Ukraine and Russia that
t allow Western countries actors to sort of just take their time to rearm, build up their infrastructure, build their military industrial complex,
and ramp up production in order to restart the conflict again. Again, at the expense of Ukrainian lives on Ukraine soil as a way to wage another proxy war on Russia. So it does seem to be more probable than not that any peace settlement that does involve Western parties voicing their interest in that peace settlement would
result in just a frozen conflict. But what’s interesting is that recently Zelenskyy reportedly said that Ukraine must prepare for three more years of war. And if we look at Ukraine and the reality on the ground, we see that Ukraine has 11 million pensioners. These are individuals who are 65 years older and above.
and the majority of them actually live below the poverty line. The younger generations have either moved to Europe, to Russia, millions of people moved to Russia after 2022, or they perished in this proxy war. So Ukraine doesn’t really have the human capital to sustain a military campaign for three more years, as Zelensky is promising.
And what’s more important probably is that if you look at the economic side of it, the economic side has to sustain war efforts, but the The Ukrainian economy is just destroyed because it doesn’t have the human capital. It doesn’t have the infrastructure and so many other things. So what is Zelensky’s plan here?
Why is he saying let’s prepa
re for three more years of war when he requires foreign funding? to finance government operations, to pay pensions to those 11 million people who are 65 and older, and he requires Western weapons to wage that war. What’s his plan here?
I think his plan is to stay in power, and war for him is power, because he’s able to remain in power in violation of the Ukrainian constitution, which does not prohibit elections, presidential elections during martial law time like this or during war in context to prohibiting parliamentary elections. And Zelensky basically does this illegally here. He is not…
legal authority on the constitution to remain in power because constitution states that the term of president is set at five years and it cannot be extended and again in such case and there is also constitutional court ruling on this case that about the presidential term so Zelensky basically knows this and for him
Being able to continue this war for such a long time, it means that he would stay in power with all the benefits of being able to get, again, ability to get all these ovations from Western politicians, from Western media, Western kind of… celebrities and so on who give him all this applause basically for using Ukraine as
a proxy war against Russia and using Ukrainians as a tool against Russia. So they basically, Zelensky getting such benefit for him, this is very important. This is like standing ovation given for his performance as a leader of Ukraine because of his background as a kind of comedy.
in comedy television kind of genre so he has he needs to have applause for him this is like kind of shows that he does very well and also he gets the benefit economic benefit financial benefit from this war so there is this investigation of inner
circle of Zelensky and people close to him were accused by and charged charged with large-scale corruption including one of them had a golden toilet in his apartment. They live very lavish lifestyles and so on without any real kind of accountability, with the exception of this National Anticorruption Bureau,
which was actually investigating them because it was under control or under influence of the United States and other Western governments. So they were able to use this against Zelensky, but not against him directly. so far. And so this means also that in case of any ending of the war Zelensky might face a
lot of questions from the Ukrainians for his failure to prevent this war which was avoidable and could have been avoided by peaceful negotiations which I mentioned implementing of Minsk agreements and so on. So he would also face a lot of questions for his failure to again to sign a peace
deal in Istanbul and kind of other questions about his Again, about his activity and actions in his office and his close associates in case of corruption. So he might be also kind of certain by far right if he would accept the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from Donbas or even if he would sign a peace deal with Russia
on other kind of terms which is not likely. In any case, he might face threat from far-right, including open neo-Nazis who already settled him in 2019 and also the start of Russian invasion against making any peace deal with Russia to end the war in Donbass and now war with Russia.
So he would then have a real possibility of criminal persecution in Ukraine if he would lose power or he would have to free Ukraine as happened with many other dictators. so he would then kind of abandon and he would again then lose his publicity status
he would no longer be given standard innovation and all this kind of close by the west so in this case this ending the war for Zelensky would mean kind of negative very negative consequences to him but not to ukrainians so in this regard this is very clear that Zelensky is not the same as ukraine and the Ukrainians,
because his interest actually is very different from the interests of the Ukrainians and the Ukrainians as a state. And for this reason, he wants to prolong this war as long as possible and stay in power as long as possible, because otherwise he is in danger.
And even his not only freedom, but also life can be in danger if he would be again certain by far-right and other kind of factions in Ukraine, especially people who are disgruntled or kind of witnessed all this forced mobilization in Ukraine and violations of human rights and other kind of cases of human rights violations, including illegal persecutions,
people who are persecuted. on a variety of thumped up charges, also people whose property was confiscated or stolen, and people who were forcefully mobilized by the military officers under the action of Zelensky under his command. So I think there would be a lot of negative kind of outburst against Zelensky if he would lose power.
So for this reason, he wants to prolong this war as long as possible, and he still relies on financial support from the European Union countries, which provided him the ability to pay all these pensions that you mentioned. All the pensions in the Ukraine are paid by Western countries. Initially, it was the United States and other European countries.
But now the European Union pays all the basic salaries of Ukrainian public employees, and also like teachers, professors, doctors, and they also pay salaries of other public officials and they pay pensions. Because Ukrainian budget is not able to cover all these expenses. And so for Zelensky,
this is a good opportunity because he basically getting lots of money to stay in power to prolong his rule, which is not democratic and not Again, according to law, but he is supported by the West financially and politically, so he can use this to prolong this war as long as possible for him,
because this is in his interest.
Absolutely. Europe has repeatedly suggested sending so-called peacekeepers to Ukraine even after a peace settlement is reached with Russia. And every single time there is that rhetoric from Europe, Russia’s response is that any foreign troops would be legitimate targets on the territory of Ukraine. Why is Europe pushing the idea of sending foreign troops to Ukraine after a peace
deal is reached?
I think they can do this for two reasons. One reason they want to continue to have Ukraine as a client state of the United States or NATO basically or the Western countries. So for them, Ukraine is very good to contain Russia. Before the Russian invasion, the Ukraine was a client state,
which was used against Russia to contain Russia. They wanted to continue this after the end of the war. So this is one reason to use the Ukraine against Russia. for geopolitical reasons and to maintain conflict between Russia and the West and between Russia and Ukraine. In such case,
European peacekeepers would be able to prolong this and also maybe enable Zelensky to stay in power because they would give protection to him against any kind of set which might be coming from the Ukrainians who might be again, who might try to go against Zelensky after the end of the war. But I think another reason,
which is also a very important reason, maybe even more major, much more significant reason, is that they use this kind of promise or intention to deploy peacekeepers in Ukraine against specific statements by Russia that this is a red line, this is not acceptable to Russia.
So they know this and they do this specifically in order to torpedo any peace deal prospects. Because if they would make such a deployment of peacekeepers as a part of peace deal, formal or informal which is even again if russia would not agree so in this case
again this would mean that the war would continue no matter if peace deal would be assigned or not and this this would mean that russia would not be likely to accept such conditions of peace of peace deal which would involve deployment of peacekeepers and and for this i think for this reason i don’t think that they want
to have a direct war with russia but they want to just to use kind of deployment of peacekeepers as a way to repeat a peaceful negotiations peaceful peaceful peace deal which can end this war because this kind of can be regarded as a kind of poison pill in a peaceful negotiations by offering such
conditions which will not be acceptable and again and which are already rejected by russia and so this means they know this and they specifically do this time and time even so it’s clear that this is not kind of possible because this can lead to war between NATO countries and Russia, direct war, which would be, again,
very difficult and very significant conflict because this would be a war between nuclear powers, which would be much more significant than war between NATO, for instance, and Serbia over Kosovo in the end of 1990s, or war between, again, the United States and Israel with Iran right now.
And maybe the last question for today. Newly appointed Ukrainian defense minister stated in January of 2026 that 2 million Ukrainian men are wanted for draft dodging and 200,000 are deserters. So the Zelenskyy government actually relies on forced mobilization. We see so many videos of brutal attacks on Ukrainian men of all ages across Ukraine,
and it’s been going on since 2022. I know that you personally know many people who were mobilized by force and who were not fit for service necessarily due to a variety of reasons. And you posted about this on your ex, and I found those posts to be very, very interesting and enlightening.
Could you expand on Zelensky’s forced mobilization practices and maybe tell us about your own former neighbors or former colleagues who fell victim to this mobilization?
Yeah, I think this is also a very major issue, which almost never reported by the Western media. And Western politicians also pretend that this is not the issue at all in Ukraine. They claim that the Ukrainians want to fight Russia again, and they do this voluntarily and so on, but actually, this is not the case,
because the evidence, which is very clear in terms of which you have mentioned, which I also
examined in my book. So actually, what is important to understand is that a lot of Ukrainians I think I would believe a majority of Ukrainians based on this public data about desertion,
they would not be willing to fight war to the last Ukrainian country to the policies of Western
countries, now also policy of Zelensky in this regard. They would support peaceful resolution of this war because for them, this means a very real chance of being killed or wounded
really wounded on this war, since Zelensky and his government now rely on force mobilization. There are almost nobody now who is willing to voluntarily join Ukrainian forces and fight Russia, even in Western Ukraine, my native region of Ukraine, which is anti-Russian, anti-Russian region and nationalistic region. and also pro-Western region, they don’t want to do this voluntarily.
So you have a lot of videos which I watch each day on social media in which you see people who are taken over the street, basically captured by force and put into mini ones and then sent to the front. without any adequate military training, and they often then returned to their families in body bags, basically killed,
and many of them, their bodies recovered after a long time in because Ukrainian forces are not able to have these bodies after they retreat. So now you have an exchange of bodies which take place, and Russia typically exchanges 1,000 Ukrainian bodies of Ukrainian fighters with just a few dozen of Russian fighters for this reason.
So I think this is a very real issue. And I’m told by my friends and my acquaintances in Western Ukraine that men, they basically are hiding from false mobilization. They are afraid to go on the street Even people who, again, because they know that they can be captured and put in any one and sent to the
front line. So this is like real danger. And people actually know this. They are aware about this issue and they try to avoid this mobilization by force because they don’t want to fight in this war. And even if they are captured, many of them desert from front lines.
or the desert for military training camps and so you have this is a very big number of people who who do this and and also this is consistent with reports of individual cases people whom i know uh whom i as i like when i was living in
ukraine when i grew up in ukraine my neighbors former neighbors again um kind of i know that some of them were captured by force and mobilized by force and two of them are already killed And one of them was just mobilized recently a couple of weeks ago. He was like about 56 years old and he has tuberculosis.
He went to do shopping and he was captured as well. and checking familial service, even so he has tuberculosis, active form of tuberculosis, which is, again, very dangerous kind of disease, and has a variety of other illnesses. But now, they don’t care. They mobilize people with illnesses. They mobilize people with convictions, kind of prison convictions, prison terms,
and so on, prisoners. So they mobilize anybody who can be mobilized without again looking into any legal norms in Ukrainian law. They have basically kind of right to do this under Zelensky’s directive. So Zelensky gives them right to do this, to connect people from the state.
And for this reason, Ukrainians are hiding and they are willing to do this. And just another case of my neighbor who who was mobilized by force and this is neighbor from across the street another neighbor whom i mentioned was living in next in just next to my house on the uh
kind of on the same street just i know him because he went to school and so and my house actually now uh was uh also taken away so i cannot i cannot go to ukraine for the season they just they took away my house and my property
after i thought about maidan massacre but another neighbor by still i still keep in touch with my neighbors so i talk to them often with my relatives so and they told me that another neighbor across the street whom i know also personally he was mobilized in community force and he deserted and he was captured again
again, and sent to training camp. And then in a few days, in being in training camp in Western Ukraine, he was found dead with his bones broken, with injury to his face, to his head. And again, and so he was, but all the media reported that he was killed basically fighting with Russia on the front line.
Even so, he was killed very likely, almost definitely. He was killed in training ground because he did not want to fight. in the war. There was some kind of other reasons for this, he was killed, but there was no investigation and neighbors were told not to even ask for the investigation.
So all the media reported that he was just killed in the war. So this is like a real situation with real people who are again killed. And another neighbor who was also just recently killed in the war, this is like his son of a person who just lived two houses away from my house in Western Ukraine.
I know their family. I do not know him, but I knew his mother and grandmother so very well. So this is also quite just telling how extent of casualties in Ukraine, which are also never reported. So you don’t have, there’s no real information about number of Ukrainian military forces killed. And according to my estimate,
there are now more than 200,000 of Ukrainian soldiers who are killed or treated as missing in action, but they are likely killed as well because their bodies are just not recovered by Ukrainian forces. And in this case, I think this is a very negative situation for Ukrainian and Ukrainians. And the longer this would continue,
the much less chances, there would be much more such casualties and without any willingness of Ukrainians to fight in this war. And this is just, I think, very good demonstrations. This is not just accidental kind of cases. This is a very big issue and also which is applicable not only to Eastern Ukraine and Central Ukraine,
which are more kind of, which are Again, region closer to Russia and historical ties to Russia, but also to Western Ukraine, like my native region, Western Ukraine, which again has no kind of love for Russia or no affinity with Russia and supported historically anti-Russian political parties and candidates and voted for Poroshenko and voted also for other candidates.
who were kind of supporting nationalist policies and anti-Russian policies, and also supported pro-Western orientation. And now they are not willing to fight, even in such cases. And they’re mobilized, but they are either killed or they can also face negative consequences afterwards in their lives. So a lot of people’s lives are killed, ended in such a way.
And now people actually who said that they supported democracy in ukraine that they regarded maidan in opposition again as a protest in maidan which took place in 2013 and 14 as a kind of protest against police violence of the police actually now they openly endorse and or ignore this
violence which taken place on ukrainians with much bigger scale which is actually Police on Maidan was not responsible for the massacres, which I described in my studies, but actually this was opposite. And now you see that actually all this violence taken place in borderline, people are killed, they are abducted. There are a lot of videos,
and this is totally ignored by the Western media, by Western politicians who claim that they support Ukraine and Ukrainians, but actually this is opposite. I regard this as a very anti-Ukanian policy because this is very clear that this is not what ukans want and that this has a very negative effect on ukraine and ukans even
I couldn’t agree with you more. I think you’re absolutely right. And we see that the surge in human trafficking in Europe as a result of the war has definitely become one of the main things that I know many UN reports mention. And the abuse of human rights in Ukraine is just…
In broad daylight when, you know, men are taken off the streets, they’re beaten. There are many reports that indicate that they are actually murdered in those military training facilities where they’re supposed to be trained to kill. to be taken to the front. And it’s just a complete and utter tragedy, what we are seeing.
And effectively, as you mentioned, Zelensky is not a democratically elected president. His term has expired several years ago. And Ukrainian church has been persecuted on a daily basis. So It is truly shameful to see that Western governments fund a regime that openly oppresses its own people and abuses their human rights.
