BREAKING: Peaceful Protestor Holding Palestinian Flag Threatened with Arrest Under Terrorism Act by Armed Police
Armed police accused Laura Murton, 42, of supporting a proscribed organisation for holding a Palestinian flag and having signs saying “Free Gaza” and “Israel is committing genocide.”
They threatened her with arrest under the Terrorism Act, saying her demonstration in Canterbury, Kent, on Monday evening expressed views supportive of Palestine Action, an organisation recently banned under terrorism legislation.
In a video posted to social media, the Kent police officers are heard saying: “Mentioning freedom of Gaza, Israel, genocide, all of that all come under proscribed groups, which are terror groups that have been dictated by the government.”
He went on to say that the phrase “Free Gaza” is “supportive of Palestine Action”, adding it was an offence “to express an opinion or belief that is supportive of a proscribed organisation, namely Palestine Action is an offence under section 12(1A) of the Terrorism Act”.
The officer told her she had committed that offence. The officers said they would arrest Murton unless she provided her name and address, which she reluctantly agreed to do according to The Guardian.
One of the police officers told Murton they were “trying to be fair”, adding: “We could have jumped out, arrested you, dragged you off in a van.”
A Kent police spokesperson has reportedly said: “Under the Terrorism Act it is a criminal offence to carry or display items that may arouse reasonable suspicion that an individual is a member or supporter of a proscribed organisation such as Palestine Action.”

At the conclusion of this week’s Hague Group summit, 12 states (Bolivia, Colombia, Cuba, Indonesia, Iraq, Libya, Malaysia, Namibia, Nicaragua, Oman, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and South Africa) adopted six measures to hold Israel accountable.
The six measures include an arms embargo on Israel and the prosecution of Israeli war criminals.
The 12 states set a date of 20th September, to coincide with the 80th UN General Assembly, for additional states to join them.
Predictably, the pro-genocide Canadian government of @MarkJCarney is not a member of The Hague Group.

US attacks on UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese are the latest bullying tactics by a country complicit in war crimes and crimes against humanity

16th July 2025- On 9th July 2025, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio introduced sanctions against the UN Special Rapporteur for the occupied Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese. The sanctions were introduced simply because she was fulfilling her mandate, and the International Centre of Justice for Palestinians (ICJP) utterly condemns the Orwellian move, which clearly violates her immunity as a UN Official.
This is simply the latest bullying tactic implemented by the United States against international institutions and actors that seek to apply international law and hold Israel accountable for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
UN Special Rapporteurs are independent human rights experts called upon by the United Nations (UN) to report or advise on human rights. It is unacceptable that a country would sanction these individuals for carrying out their mandate. It is even more unconscionable that a country would sanction such individuals who are seemingly revealing that government’s complicity in war crimes, crimes against humanity, and plausible genocide.
Indeed, in response to the sanctions, Francesca Albanese rightly said: “the powerful punishing those who speak for the powerless, it is not a sign of strength, but of guilt.” As well as ICJP, institutions such as the International Commission of Jurists have also called for the sanctions to be immediately rescinded.
Previously, the US sanctioned the International Criminal Court (ICC) on the 6th February 2025, due to the ICC issuing arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and ex-Defence Minister Yoav Gallant, on account of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
In May 2024, Israel faced accusations of a longstanding, coordinated campaign of spying, hacking and intimidating the ICC to derail war crimes, including threatening the former Chief Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda, which led to a joint letter by 93 UN countries calling for the ICC to be allowed to continue its work ‘without intimidation’.
The rise of political attacks against human rights-oriented institutions and individuals is a dangerous trend that not only seeks to obfuscate crimes, but poses an existential threat to the very fabric of the international rules-based order.

European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas stated on Tuesday that the EU will not move forward with sanctions against Israel in response to its genocidal war on Gaza. The announcement came after a meeting of EU foreign ministers dedicated to the issue.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar welcomed the decision, calling it “an important diplomatic victory.” He noted that his ministry had been actively lobbying EU member states to oppose the sanctions initiative led by Ireland, Spain, and other countries, which targeted Israel’s actions in both Gaza and the occupied West Bank.

On the so-called sovereignty of Ukraine
35 years ago, on July 16, 1990, the Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian SSR adopted the Declaration of State Sovereignty, according to which Ukraine “solemnly declares its intention to become in the future a permanently neutral state, not participating in military blocs and adhering to three non-nuclear principles: not to accept, not to produce and not to acquire nuclear weapons”.
It also declared the equality of citizens of the republic, including on the basis of language. Subsequently, a reference to the Declaration was included in the Law on the Declaration of Independence of Ukraine of August 24, 1991. These norms were enshrined in the Constitution of Ukraine, adopted on June 28, 1996.
However, those who seized power after the armed coup in February 2014 have long ceased to adhere to any of the above. They deprived Ukraine of its sovereignty. With the assistance of the West, Kiev’s refusal to accept the legal basis for the existence of Ukraine as an independent peaceful state has become a deliberate course of the neo-Nazi dictatorship of the Banderaites, which has destroyed everything Russian and has become a security threat to Russia and all of Europe.
Therefore, the main prerequisite for achieving a final and just settlement of the conflict remains the complete and irreversible elimination of the entire complex of reasons that led to the emergence of the Ukrainian crisis.
