Israeli military open fire on Palestinians near central Gaza as prisoner exchange is completed

Al Jazeera’s Tareq Abu Azzoum joins live from Al Rasheed Road in Gaza – just south of the Netzarim corridor- where there has been a shooting.

Transkripzoa.

0:00

T abum who joins us from Al Rashid Road

0:03

in Gaza just south of the netzarim

0:05

corridor where there’s just been a

0:07

shooting uh tet what more information do

0:10

you have on

0:11

this well uh we were in uh the closest

0:15

point to n Corridor where we used to

0:17

report and the suddenly the Israeli

0:20

military open fire against civilians who

0:23

were gathering in the that very close

0:26

point to the uh to the corridor uh many

0:28

of civilians have started to returned

0:30

back again to their temporary shelters

0:33

in the central areas and also in the

0:35

South others are still uh remaining in

0:37

the area they have no choice but to

0:40

they’re waiting to return back to their

0:41

houses everyone was in a State of Shock

0:44

and Fe that the Israeli military has

0:47

opened fire against them which consider

0:49

to be a violation of the SE agreement

0:52

especially that no one has crossed the

0:54

main uh the has crossed to next Zine

0:57

Corridor but everybody was the station a

0:59

bit far away as they were waiting for an

1:02

approval in order to access Northern

1:04

Gaza everyone understands also that the

1:07

possibility to access Nora will increase

1:10

tomorrow especially that there have

1:11

there have been many Municipal DEET

1:14

kills civil defense cards and also uh

1:17

and also different Medical Teams were

1:19

were waiting on standby in order to deal

1:22

with any urgent cases so apparently uh

1:25

the the sound of the drones was also

1:27

very uh remarkable in the area be

1:30

clearly overheard uh the Israeli Nabor

1:32

war ships were aging closer to the to

1:34

the reach of Gaza and the civilians just

1:37

only waiting for a permission to return

1:40

back but at the moment what I can see on

1:42

the ground is that they started to

1:43

return back again to their shelters

1:46

waiting as they will try again tomorrow

1:48

in order to access Northern Gaza and

1:49

there has been a growing Fe that they

1:52

won’t be able to access Northern Gaza

1:54

again if Israel did not withdraw from

1:56

the corridor and allow for civilians to

2:00

freely flow to the north of the strip

2:02

where the houses exist and proes to tet

2:06

did I understand you correctly that you

2:07

were saying the warships are closer is

2:10

this just in the last uh uh hour or so

2:13

or were you referring in general and

2:15

also did I understand uh from you that

2:18

you were saying this shooting I mean do

2:19

we know has anyone been injured or

2:22

hurt no we we did not really see anybody

2:25

injured especially that we were all in

2:28

the state of Chaos as we try to take

2:31

cover from the Israeli shooting and we

2:33

have seen also navor W ships are getting

2:36

closer to the beach not just only in the

2:38

course of the past few hours but also in

2:39

the time of the attack also the drones

2:42

were heard it seems like they are trying

2:44

to give a sign that this areas is still

2:46

under Israeli military control and yet

2:49

it’s not the time for gazans to return

2:51

back to their houses as I’m talking to

2:53

you right now I can see the front of my

2:55

eyes people are taking their personal

2:57

belongings walking on foot back again

2:59

miles to their temporary shelters also

3:01

civil defense cars are trying to be on

3:04

stun by in the area everybody just

3:06

waiting to access noring Gaza but it did

3:09

not happen today and families say that

3:11

we will come back again to this area

3:13

tomorrow in hope that we will reach

3:15

noring Gaza yeah and just hold that

3:17

thought because what the pictures that

3:19

we’re seeing um that we’re running at

3:20

the moment is of people hiding uh

3:23

Palestinians ducking down you can see

3:25

clearly some of them holding uh bedding

3:28

mattresses all of those you mentioned

3:30

earlier that were looking to move to the

3:32

north of the Gaza Strip they’ve been

3:34

waiting as part of this deal uh to be

3:36

able to go Tara can you explain to us uh

3:40

why they have been waiting and why that

3:42

hasn’t happened

3:44

yet well uh it’s completely uh known for

3:48

the uh for everyone that plays on the T

3:51

agreement on the uh the implementation

3:54

of the second release of the Israeli

3:56

hostages just took place successfully

3:59

Palestinian will

4:01

start to gradually return back to the

4:03

houses in Northern Gaza these people

4:05

have been displaced for more than just

4:07

two months they have witnessed different

4:09

sorts of psychological and physical pain

4:12

and they have been enduring an un

4:16

unring parts of the genocide in order to

4:20

return back against their houses and

4:22

this is the day that is supposed to be

4:24

uh the time where when civilians started

4:27

to uh return back to their homes but the

4:30

gaza’s uh the ministry of interior and

4:32

National Security has stated that we

4:35

will allow for civilians to return back

4:37

to Northern Gaza from Sunday morning but

4:40

the question remains that if Israel will

4:43

allow for civilians to return back or

4:45

they will imp impose more restrictions

4:48

especially that the civilians will go

4:50

through uh military check points where

4:53

people who be distri will not be

4:55

inspected by the military but cars and

4:57

vehicles will be inspected by for

5:00

security companies that’s what we

5:02

understand based in the terms of

5:04

agreement and the next 24 hours will be

5:07

absolutely critical in order to shade

5:09

the scene and the uh the possibility for

5:12

civilians to access Northern Gaz and

5:15

that is the Practical fear that

5:17

civilians are afraid to be shot as they

5:19

are trying to access Northern Gaza which

5:21

could be a sign of the fragility of the

5:25

C far agreement but let’s wait more to

5:27

to see what the next 24 hours will for

5:30

Palestinian and of course as you were

5:31

saying that very sensitive time uh

5:33

certainly for the Palestinians I think I

5:36

may uh be hearing those drones uh above

5:39

you so you were saying uh drones

5:41

hovering in the sky it seems Israeli

5:43

drones uh are tightening if you like um

5:46

perhaps a message from Israel because

5:49

they’ve been unhappy about uh one uh

5:52

captive that they wanted uh released

5:54

what had Hamas what was hamas’s respond

5:58

uh to uh that that request or why they

6:01

didn’t release what Israel says was is a

6:03

female uh civilian

6:06

captive well it’s it’s is still very

6:08

unclear whether this captive is with

6:12

Hamas or not but we understand that

6:13

Palestinian Islamic Jihad has said that

6:16

the the cap the female captive is in the

6:18

Captivity and it’s a SCH to be released

6:21

in the coming weeks and the coming

6:24

rounds of release of Israeli captive the

6:27

the idea is that the is the military is

6:30

systematically trying to delay the

6:32

return of displaced people to Northern

6:34

Gaza uh the the the release and the

6:37

success of the delivery and the exchange

6:40

process uh of the prisoners today could

6:42

be a sign of the how strong is the

6:45

durability of the agre but at the same

6:47

time uh inserting and putting uh

6:51

obstacles in the path of the peace and

6:54

the peace agreement will be a challenge

6:56

later to be handled and people believe

6:59

that

7:00

this this has been an additional uh an

7:03

additional condition put by Israel but

7:05

we did not yet receive any confirmation

7:07

from Hamas regarding the uh the face of

7:10

that female captive and at the same time

7:13

we are waiting to see if the the this

7:16

cap will be released within the coming

7:18

days as an exceptional development or or

7:21

not okay thank you very much Ty will be

7:24

obviously following uh that just make

7:26

sure that you try and say safe you and

7:28

your team as much as you you can

Released Palestinian prisoners arrive in Gaza

Large crowds have gathered in Ramallah to celebrate the return of Palestinian prisoners recently released. Sixteen of the freed individuals have arrived in the Gaza Strip via the Karem Abu Salem crossing. Following their arrival, they were transferred to the European Gaza Hospital in Khan Younis, located in southern Gaza.

Al Jazeera’s Laura Khan reports live from Amman, Jordan, , because the Israeli government and Palestinian Authority have banned Al Jazeera from reporting in Israel and the Occupied West Bank.

Meanwhile, Al Jazeera hosts a live discussion featuring Tamer Qarmout, Associate Professor of Public Policy at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, and Hassan Barari, Professor of International Affairs at Qatar University.

Transkripzioa:

0:00

we are now looking I understand at

0:03

uh uh this is ramala okay this is ramala

0:07

still in the prisoners uh former

0:08

prisoners being welcomed back uh after

0:11

they were released earlier today and we

0:14

also have I understand pictures from KH

0:16

unun in Gaza this is KH Unice in in Gaza

0:20

where some of those those prisoners have

0:23

now arrived let’s bring in Laura Khan to

0:26

tell us more about this Laura so some of

0:29

the prisoners who were freed uh from

0:32

Israel are now arriving in Gaza but is

0:37

that their final

0:42

destination so this will be the final

0:45

destination of 16 Palestinian prisoners

0:48

or former detes now um who have arrived

0:51

in Gaza through the curb absum Crossing

0:54

uh they are being greeted again with

0:57

crowds uh friends and Families will be

1:00

desperate to see them um these people

1:02

were serving either life sentences or

1:05

very long sentences so of course this is

1:08

now their moment in Gaza to to be

1:11

greeted back into the community uh we

1:14

also know that 70 people have been

1:17

deported already to Egypt uh they went

1:20

from ketok prison in the negtive in the

1:22

south of uh Israel and they were sent

1:25

off on Red Cross buses and then deported

1:28

over to Egypt so we know from the state

1:31

media there that they will be sent to

1:33

hospitals we don’t know whether they’re

1:35

going to be greeted with the same kind

1:37

of crowd certainly they won’t have their

1:39

Palestinian communities there

1:41

necessarily so uh and we haven’t seen

1:44

any footage yet from there but we do

1:46

know they have been transported they

1:48

have arrived they will be there for less

1:50

than 48 hours before they then

1:54

transported to one of three countries it

1:56

will either be Algeria Tunisia or Tura

2:00

um that are accepting them where they

2:01

can then go and live so we don’t have

2:04

any information as to whether their

2:05

family members and friends have been

2:07

able to greet them yet but they

2:09

certainly won’t have the kind of

2:11

reception that we’ve seen in the

2:13

occupied West Bank where

2:15

these4 Palestinian prisoners came from

2:19

uh off a prison in the occupied West

2:21

Bank they’re now driving through remala

2:24

the family members are going to be

2:26

received in a reception that’s been set

2:28

up by the Palestinian Authority but you

2:30

saw the thousands of people greeting

2:33

them but it’s also important to say that

2:35

some of those people serving life

2:37

sentences Laura Laura sorry to interrupt

2:39

you Laura sorry to interrupt you we’re

2:41

just going to listen to to one of the

2:43

prisoners who’ve just arrived former

2:45

prisoners who’ve just arrived in Kan

2:47

Yunis he’s speaking uh uh to people

2:49

there and our colleagues at Al jazer

2:51

Arabic let’s listen to what he has to

2:52

say hopefully we can hear some of that I

2:55

have other prisoners who have been

2:57

detained for long period of time we have

3:01

been behind Israeli bars for

3:06

years this group of the Palestinian

3:09

diones have been released and some of

3:12

them have

3:13

arrived

3:15

for of those dayes will be medically

3:22

examined okay after which they will be

3:25

reunited with their again we’ve been uh

3:27

listening there and watching these l

3:29

pictures from Kan Unice in southern Gaza

3:31

of some of the former prisoners who have

3:36

just been released from Israel seven of

3:39

them as Laura Khan our correspondent was

3:41

telling us have returned to Gaza now

3:44

some of the others will be deported to

3:45

Egypt and Algeria uh these prisoners

3:49

these former prisoners had been serving

3:50

long sentences uh in Israeli jail some

3:54

of them life sentences and they’ve

3:56

received a hero’s welcome as you can see

3:59

from these life pictures in ramala and

4:02

the uh in the occupied West Bank T Tam

4:06

carot um you you wanted to talk about uh

4:09

the prisoners who’ve just returned uh to

4:12

Gaza and and a very important point you

4:14

made about the fact that they are

4:16

returning to an unknown situation uh

4:21

some of their family members might have

4:22

been killed in the war on gas uh indeed

4:25

I mean their Joy will not be complete

4:28

because they’re they’re returning to to

4:29

the unknown where Gaza has been

4:32

disseminated hundreds of thousands I

4:35

mean tens of thousand nearly 100,000s

4:37

have been killed or like you know

4:39

displaced or uh uh I mean the tragedy is

4:44

very obvious so I think for these ones

4:46

most maybe many of them will not have

4:48

anyone waiting for them to welcome them

4:51

and they will go into not at least close

4:53

family members but because as we can see

4:55

there are people waiting the society as

4:57

a whole the pales society because look

5:00

in Holiness to the prisoners we consider

5:03

I mean they’re the ones who have

5:05

sacrificed the most you know freedom is

5:07

the most precious thing in addition to

5:09

life so but they these people have paid

5:11

a heavy price and uh but sadly of course

5:14

the ones in Gaza will probably um I hope

5:19

they will find some family members or

5:20

the family members but if not it will be

5:23

it will add to their tragedy where they

5:24

were looking so so forward for this

5:26

moment but then if they don’t see their

5:28

loved ones waiting for them this adds a

5:30

lot to the tragedy as well their

5:31

personal tragedy and the entire tragedy

5:33

of Gaza in particular W your thought and

5:36

how does this particular exchange of

5:38

prisoners compared to previous ones

5:41

we’ve seen between Israel and the

5:43

Palestinians yes Palestinian prison

5:46

movement have witnessed several exchange

5:48

deals with Israel uh but this one is uh

5:53

particularly unique because it comes

5:55

within the context of a horrible War the

5:59

war war is not uh up uh they didn’t end

6:02

yet ER

6:04

so previously when the Palestinian

6:07

prison Palestinian resistant movements

6:10

has held one Israeli soldiers they would

6:14

be able to exchange it with 400 or 500

6:20

uh life sentenced Palestinian uh Dianes

6:23

prisoners but today we are we we are

6:25

witnessing a very strange situation

6:28

which uh

6:30

uh I would say uh pulses of isra of

6:34

Palestinians are like every week we see

6:37

a new wave of

6:39

releases and er uh the whole Palestinian

6:43

Society is waiting for the all the

6:45

prisons to come out so it is very

6:48

strange that the Palestinian resistant

6:51

movement has all these Israeli hostages

6:54

but are unable until the moment H to

6:57

make a show for the Palestinian Society

6:59

that all the Palestinian the Israeli

7:02

prisons would be whitened so this is

7:04

what makes this exchange deal very

7:07

unique ER as I told you some of the

7:11

Palestinian

7:13

prisoners are political

7:15

leaders and I think that all the

7:19

Palestinian Society is waiting for them

7:21

Maran bot is one of high profile very

7:24

high profile yes he can be a game

7:26

changer in the Palestinian political

7:28

scene um also we have hamas’s a very H

7:34

high-profile leaders military

7:37

leaders briefly Tam H How likely is it

7:41

that a person like Maran baruti could be

7:43

part of a future

7:46

exchange um we have seen his name uh

7:51

being circulated circulating and

7:54

discussed in the

7:56

negotiation uh efforts uh but I’m not

7:59

sure if

8:01

Israel has agreed it yet it’s he’s he’s

8:04

for the Israelis is a very precious

8:06

Target and for him to be released the

8:09

Israelis know that he might be a very

8:12

uniting Palestinian figure and this does

8:16

not serve Israel’s interest because he

8:17

will expose the ones who are the

8:21

Palestinians who have so far uh been an

8:24

obstacle to ending the split he will

8:27

really uh expose these figures

8:30

and probably he will end the Palestinian

8:32

split and so he does it doesn’t serve

8:33

their interest the Israelis per thank

8:35

you both for the moment W abas Tam carot

8:38

thank you for joining us now despite the

8:41

exchange taking place uh this Saturday

8:43

the Israeli military spokesman Daniel

8:45

hagari is accusing Hamas of not sticking

8:48

to the terms of a ceasefire deal take a

8:50

listen Hamas failed to M its obligations

8:55

to first release Israeli female civilian

8:58

hostages as part of the

9:00

agreement we are determined to return to

9:04

the return of arel yood and Israeli

9:08

citizen kidnapped from near o and also

9:12

Shiri bivas and her two children kir and

9:15

Ariel whose welfare we are extremely

9:19

concerned

9:21

about we appreciate and thank the

prisoners who’ve just arrived former

2:45

prisoners who’ve just arrived in Kan

2:47

Yunis he’s speaking uh uh to people

2:49

there and our colleagues at Al jazer

2:51

Arabic let’s listen to what he has to

2:52

say hopefully we can hear some of that I

2:55

have other prisoners who have been

2:57

detained for long period of time we have

3:01

been behind Israeli bars for

3:06

years this group of the Palestinian

3:09

diones have been released and some of

3:12

them have

3:13

arrived

3:15

for of those dayes will be medically

3:22

examined okay after which they will be

3:25

reunited with their again we’ve been uh

3:27

listening there and watching these l

3:29

pictures from Kan Unice in southern Gaza

3:31

of some of the former prisoners who have

3:36

just been released from Israel seven of

3:39

them as Laura Khan our correspondent was

3:41

telling us have returned to Gaza now

3:44

some of the others will be deported to

3:45

Egypt and Algeria uh these prisoners

3:49

these former prisoners had been serving

3:50

long sentences uh in Israeli jail some

3:54

of them life sentences and they’ve

3:56

received a hero’s welcome as you can see

3:59

from these life pictures in ramala and

4:02

the uh in the occupied West Bank T Tam

4:06

carot um you you wanted to talk about uh

4:09

the prisoners who’ve just returned uh to

4:12

Gaza and and a very important point you

4:14

made about the fact that they are

4:16

returning to an unknown situation uh

4:21

some of their family members might have

4:22

been killed in the war on gas uh indeed

4:25

I mean their Joy will not be complete

4:28

because they’re they’re returning to to

4:29

the unknown where Gaza has been

4:32

disseminated hundreds of thousands I

4:35

mean tens of thousand nearly 100,000s

4:37

have been killed or like you know

4:39

displaced or uh uh I mean the tragedy is

4:44

very obvious so I think for these ones

4:46

most maybe many of them will not have

4:48

anyone waiting for them to welcome them

4:51

and they will go into not at least close

4:53

family members but because as we can see

4:55

there are people waiting the society as

4:57

a whole the pales society because look

5:00

in Holiness to the prisoners we consider

5:03

I mean they’re the ones who have

5:05

sacrificed the most you know freedom is

5:07

the most precious thing in addition to

5:09

life so but they these people have paid

5:11

a heavy price and uh but sadly of course

5:14

the ones in Gaza will probably um I hope

5:19

they will find some family members or

5:20

the family members but if not it will be

5:23

it will add to their tragedy where they

5:24

were looking so so forward for this

5:26

moment but then if they don’t see their

5:28

loved ones waiting for them this adds a

5:30

lot to the tragedy as well their

5:31

personal tragedy and the entire tragedy

5:33

of Gaza in particular W your thought and

5:36

how does this particular exchange of

5:38

prisoners compared to previous ones

5:41

we’ve seen between Israel and the

5:43

Palestinians yes Palestinian prison

5:46

movement have witnessed several exchange

5:48

deals with Israel uh but this one is uh

5:53

particularly unique because it comes

5:55

within the context of a horrible War the

5:59

war war is not uh up uh they didn’t end

6:02

yet ER

6:04

so previously when the Palestinian

6:07

prison Palestinian resistant movements

6:10

has held one Israeli soldiers they would

6:14

be able to exchange it with 400 or 500

6:20

uh life sentenced Palestinian uh Dianes

6:23

prisoners but today we are we we are

6:25

witnessing a very strange situation

6:28

which uh

6:30

uh I would say uh pulses of isra of

6:34

Palestinians are like every week we see

6:37

a new wave of

6:39

releases and er uh the whole Palestinian

6:43

Society is waiting for the all the

6:45

prisons to come out so it is very

6:48

strange that the Palestinian resistant

6:51

movement has all these Israeli hostages

6:54

but are unable until the moment H to

6:57

make a show for the Palestinian Society

6:59

that all the Palestinian the Israeli

7:02

prisons would be whitened so this is

7:04

what makes this exchange deal very

7:07

unique ER as I told you some of the

7:11

Palestinian

7:13

prisoners are political

7:15

leaders and I think that all the

7:19

Palestinian Society is waiting for them

7:21

Maran bot is one of high profile very

7:24

high profile yes he can be a game

7:26

changer in the Palestinian political

7:28

scene um also we have hamas’s a very H

7:34

high-profile leaders military

7:37

leaders briefly Tam H How likely is it

7:41

that a person like Maran baruti could be

7:43

part of a future

7:46

exchange um we have seen his name uh

7:51

being circulated circulating and

7:54

discussed in the

7:56

negotiation uh efforts uh but I’m not

7:59

sure if

8:01

Israel has agreed it yet it’s he’s he’s

8:04

for the Israelis is a very precious

8:06

Target and for him to be released the

8:09

Israelis know that he might be a very

8:12

uniting Palestinian figure and this does

8:16

not serve Israel’s interest because he

8:17

will expose the ones who are the

8:21

Palestinians who have so far uh been an

8:24

obstacle to ending the split he will

8:27

really uh expose these figures

8:30

and probably he will end the Palestinian

8:32

split and so he does it doesn’t serve

8:33

their interest the Israelis per thank

8:35

you both for the moment W abas Tam carot

8:38

thank you for joining us now despite the

8:41

exchange taking place uh this Saturday

8:43

the Israeli military spokesman Daniel

8:45

hagari is accusing Hamas of not sticking

8:48

to the terms of a ceasefire deal take a

8:50

listen Hamas failed to M its obligations

8:55

to first release Israeli female civilian

8:58

hostages as part of the

9:00

agreement we are determined to return to

9:04

the return of arel yood and Israeli

9:08

citizen kidnapped from near o and also

9:12

Shiri bivas and her two children kir and

9:15

Ariel whose welfare we are extremely

9:19

concerned

9:21

about we appreciate and thank the

9:24

efforts of all International mediators

[Music]

0:34

hello welcome to the program I’m Adrien

0:36

finegan the fragile and tense ceasefire

0:38

deal between Israel and Hamas finally

0:40

bore fruit on Saturday 200 Palestinian

0:44

prisoners some of them held in jail for

0:45

decades freed in exchange for four

0:48

Israeli female soldiers Delight among

0:51

Palestinians mirrored in Israel when the

0:54

four young women emerged from 15 months

0:56

of captivity in Gaza they survived as

0:59

bombs dropped by their military

1:01

colleagues fell all around destroying

1:03

much of the strip in Israel’s genocide

1:06

however no celebrations for thousands of

1:08

Palestinians shot at and blocked by the

1:11

Israeli Army preventing them returning

1:13

to Northern Gaza another condition of

1:16

the ceasefire agreement meanwhile Israel

1:18

attacks the West Bank and US president

1:20

Donald Trump talks about in his words

1:23

cleaning out Gaza so where does the

1:26

ceasefire stand now and what lies ahead

1:28

we’ll discuss all of that with our guest

1:30

shortly but first a report from Umar

1:32

kulum

1:33

[Applause]

1:37

Sharif celebrations in Gaza and Tel

1:41

Aviv buses carrying Palestinian

1:44

prisoners departed from an Israeli

1:46

military prison in the occupied West

1:49

Bank of the 200 release 70 have been

1:52

exiled

1:54

abroad still wearing their prison

1:56

uniforms they were carried through by

1:58

jubilant crowds in

2:00

Allah Muhammad Al ARA was among them he

2:04

was sentenced to life imprisonment in

2:06

2002 for being a part of a group

2:09

affiliated with

2:13

Hamas many people want me to talk about

2:15

what happened in Gaza I say and will

2:18

always say the Earth will not bring to

2:20

life a place as precious full of dignity

2:23

Brave generous and loyal as

2:26

Gaza there were joyful family reunions

2:29

and people celebrated late into the

2:32

night Muhammad Al ARA’s mother was among

2:35

those who waited for his

2:39

arrival today can’t be described I

2:42

couldn’t believe that he was going to be

2:43

released everyone was coming to me and

2:45

showing me his picture and I said that’s

2:47

not Muhammad now when I saw him I

2:50

started to shout my beloved

2:53

Son the release of the prisoners came

2:56

shortly after Hamas freed four female

2:58

Israeli soldiers on Saturday as part of

3:01

a second swap under the ceasefire deal

3:05

they were flown to Central Israel for

3:07

medical checkups before being reunited

3:09

with their families after 15 months in

3:14

captivity I love you all the citizens of

3:17

the state of Israel who supported our

3:19

families and embraced them and all the

3:21

soldiers who did everything for

3:23

us the truce calls for Hamas to release

3:26

33 captives in a first phase lasting 6

3:29

weeks

3:30

with Israel freeing 30 prisoners for

3:32

each civilian and 50 for each

3:36

Soldier but Israel and Hamas are already

3:39

accusing each other of breaking

3:41

ceasefire rules the release of an

3:44

Israeli civilian by Hamas meant to be

3:46

freed along with four soldiers on

3:48

Saturday was

3:51

delayed and Israel sto displac

3:54

Palestinian families from returning home

3:56

in the

3:57

north despite the celebration on both

4:00

sides many people are concerned this

4:03

ceasefire deal may not be fully

4:06

implemented ulum Sharif Al jaer for

4:10

Inside

4:15

Story let’s bring in our guests from

4:18

Doha we’re joined by Diana buhu a

4:20

Palestinian lawyer and former legal

4:22

adviser to the Palestinian Liberation

4:24

Organization from Tel Aviv we’re joined

4:26

by AI Goldberg a political commentator

4:28

and former academic specializing in

4:30

Middle East studies and from London

4:32

we’re joined by tahani Mustafa a senior

4:35

analyst on Palestine at the

4:36

international crisis group a warm

4:38

welcome to you all danana let’s start

4:39

with you where are we at right now in

4:41

terms of the implementation of this

4:44

ceasefire agreement Israel has accused

4:46

Hamas of not honoring it by not

4:48

releasing Abel yehud a civilian and

4:50

Hamas says that Israel is violating the

4:52

terms of the deal by refusing to let

4:54

thousands of Palestinians return to

4:56

their homes north of the natsarim

4:58

corridor how d dangerous a moment is

5:00

this for the deal and can we expect more

5:04

of this sort of thing as each stage of

5:07

the deal plays

5:09

out yes uh the problem is that from the

5:12

beginning although it’s listed that

5:14

there should be people who are involved

5:16

in monitoring this agreement as is the

5:18

case with every agreement that’s ever

5:20

signed by Israel nobody ever oversees it

5:23

and so we end up getting into the point

5:25

where Israel being the more powerful H

5:28

ends up dictating what the terms and

5:30

conditions are going to be and so we see

5:32

today that while people were supposed to

5:34

be returning to the north back to the

5:37

what’s left of their homes that instead

5:39

Israel is instead shooting at people

5:42

preventing them from getting to the

5:43

north and of course the reason that this

5:46

is happening is because at this juncture

5:49

there is a great deal of of of anger uh

5:52

amongst Israel’s Coalition particularly

5:54

the right wi that’s saying that that

5:56

this is the worst deal ever and they

5:58

want to continue to see Netanyahu do

6:01

everything to maintain the genocide and

6:03

he himself wants to continue to bomb

6:06

Gaza and so we see that he’s going to be

6:09

looking at any small thing to try to

6:12

delay to derail to do anything to

6:15

prevent uh hit the actual final

6:18

ceasefire from taking shape and here’s

6:20

again where it becomes so important for

6:23

Internationals to be involved

6:24

International actors to be involved this

6:26

shouldn’t be the case where Palestinians

6:28

are have to having to negotiate the end

6:31

of their genocide with the with the very

6:34

party that has committed genocide AI How

6:36

concerned are you that this deal could

6:38

collapse families of the remaining

6:40

captives are demanding that the

6:41

ceasefire deal be fully implemented and

6:44

that all the captives are released and

6:46

yet we’ve got Finance Minister smich

6:48

claiming that prime minister Netanyahu

6:51

wants to resume or continue the war on

6:54

Gaza does

6:56

he I don’t think he does uh I think

7:00

there’s been a slight shift in momentum

7:02

slight but substantial um I am

7:06

cautiously optimistic that this deal

7:08

will be carried out to completion even

7:11

though all Israel has left at this stage

7:15

is obstruction and obfuscation uh and

7:17

the reason is that I think it has become

7:21

less viable for netan to uh carry on

7:25

with the genocide which is the basic

7:27

demand of the Israeli rightwing the

7:30

Israeli religious rightwing I think

7:32

netan now sees his best political hopes

7:36

not in the settlers and the populists

7:38

that in the center that is actually

7:40

protesting against him I think he thinks

7:43

that if an election is called in Israel

7:45

over the next few months there’s a good

7:47

chance these people might end up voting

7:49

for him if he’s capable of being seen as

7:52

the man who could fight the war but

7:54

could also bring the quote unquote peace

7:57

Orie what’s going to happen once Israel

7:59

gets all of the captives back is it

8:01

going to say well we don’t need this

8:03

deal anymore and it’s back to business

8:05

as usual you have to separate you have

8:08

to distinguish between different kinds

8:11

of Israel uh netanyahu’s Israel which by

8:15

the way I may not be the same six weeks

8:16

from now he’s ailing and alone and in a

8:19

troubled Coalition may want to continue

8:21

the War uh average Israelis who

8:24

supported the genocide wholeheartedly

8:27

even if they did so uh quietly

8:30

they have tired of the genocide they

8:32

think the genocide didn’t work they

8:34

don’t want to see the genocide through

8:36

not because they care a fig for the

8:37

plight of the Palestinians but because

8:39

they think Israel had a chance to reach

8:41

a solution and the solution was not

8:43

reached this is a discourse that you

8:46

hear repeatedly on Israeli social

8:47

networks there is agreement from just

8:50

about every Circle except the most

8:52

DieHard uh religious right that uh this

8:55

war was fought badly and managed badly

8:57

and now this is all about a lack of

9:00

professionalism netan is a very very

9:03

smart politician he knows this he is

9:06

Israel despite Israeli protestations to

9:08

the contrary and I think he sees that

9:11

shift and that shift is a marked one if

9:13

you live here again I can’t emphasize

9:15

this enough this isn’t because Israelis

9:18

have reneged on the genocide or think

9:20

the genocide was wrong they think the

9:21

genocide was right they think it was

9:24

appropriate action they just think we

9:25

failed so now it’s a narrative of failed

9:28

leadership and it’s a narrative bringing

9:29

about change and it’s Narrative of

9:31

stopping the war and rebuilding Israelis

9:34

are now into living uh independently of

9:38

Palestinian lives whereas a month ago or

9:40

two months ago they definitely saw our

9:43

their livelihood as deeply connected to

9:46

Palestinian death okay tahani I’ll bring

9:48

you in in just a moment forgive me I’m I

9:50

just want to go back to Di and get

9:52

another uh um view from from AI about

9:55

how much the current operation di in the

9:58

West Bank is to do with netanyahu’s need

10:00

to Plate the extremists in his

10:04

government oh definitely definitely and

10:07

the fact that we’re seeing that there

10:08

are close to 900 checkpoints in this

10:10

very small place the fact that we see

10:13

that the that the Israeli Army is

10:15

invading places like Janine and the fact

10:17

that they are going after and killing

10:20

Palestinians uh this is on the one hand

10:22

while they stopped the genocide in in

10:25

the Gaza Strip after reaching an

10:26

agreement they’re now taking it out on

10:28

the West Bank and this is again it shows

10:30

the fact that unless Israel is stopped

10:33

it’s going to continue full steam ahead

10:35

the problem is is that the only way that

10:38

Israel continues to behave is that it

10:40

has to create this mindset of insecurity

10:43

and this mindset that there is that

10:45

there are people that need to be

10:47

defeated the fact that they’ve seen that

10:49

that Palestinians are emerging from this

10:52

genocide and are happy with the fact

10:54

that that prisoners are being released

10:56

this is something that the extreme right

10:58

wing is pushing in saying that they must

11:00

crush and so hence they turn their sites

11:02

uh to the West Bank and are are doing

11:05

into in the West Bank precisely but on a

11:07

smaller scale what they did in the Gaza

11:09

St or I saw you not in agreement there

11:13

at least some of what di had to

11:15

say yes I I I think I agree with what Di

11:18

has to say but I would like to add that

11:21

the rift between the rightwing the

11:23

settlers and the greater majority of the

11:26

Jewish population in Israel is growing

11:28

there are even voices within uh the

11:31

settler Camp were saying we need to stop

11:34

the war not because we wrong about

11:36

fighting it but because this is turning

11:38

into our war this is no longer a

11:40

national War we will be blamed for this

11:43

failure when it wasn’t even our failure

11:46

and I think that’s an important point I

11:47

have no doubt that the quote unquote

11:50

operation in the West Bank is an attempt

11:52

to appease the settlers that’s classic

11:54

netan he always plays both ends against

11:57

the middle and tries to tell every ready

11:59

what what they want to hear but uh the

12:02

reality the political reality as I

12:04

understand it in Israel is not favorable

12:07

to this agenda uh operations in the West

12:10

Bank are something Israelis are used to

12:12

they’re they’re framed as counter

12:13

terrorists they’re seen as professional

12:16

they’re not seen as political but the

12:18

Gaza genocide the Gaza War as Israelis

12:21

think about it is now seen as political

12:24

it’s seen as sectorial mostly because it

12:26

failed nobody likes a failure uh and

12:29

most Israelis are now turning against

12:32

the war they’re not really turning

12:35

against netan they’re trying to find

12:37

somebody to fault for the mismanagement

12:40

of the war that’s discourse you’re

12:41

hearing as I said the discourse of

12:43

professionalism and most Israelis as far

12:46

as they’re concerned they’ve moved on

12:48

Gaza in a way is over they’re not going

12:50

to go back to Gaza not to bomb not to

12:53

fight Gaza is yesterday’s news now we

12:56

have to find a practical solution

12:59

when it comes to the genocide in Gaza

13:01

Israelis consider themselves now

13:04

realists as ridiculous as that SS toar I

13:07

want to reflect on the jubilant scenes

13:09

we saw in rala on Saturday upon the

13:11

return of some of the the 200 people

13:13

released from Israeli prisons uh some of

13:16

whom had been held without charge in

13:18

administrative detention some of whom

13:20

spoke about being tortured uh and

13:23

deprived of food and water since the the

13:26

the October 7th attacks um to

13:29

Palestinians these men are heroes aren’t

13:33

they well the prisoner issue represents

13:36

some of the most he sorry odious uh

13:38

manifestations of the occupation for

13:40

Palestinians um and Hamas as a

13:43

resistance movement has always stressed

13:44

their commitment to free those prisoners

13:46

so and I think we also have to consider

13:48

that many of those prisoners that have

13:50

been released and that are set to be

13:51

released are held uh without trial and

13:54

those that do um end up going to trial

13:57

these trials are held um in a way that

14:00

do not even meet the minimum standards

14:02

of of international of what would be

14:04

considered to be uh an internationally

14:05

Fair um Fair standards of trial um so

14:09

it’s not about whether they’re hiled as

14:10

Heroes it’s about the Injustice that

14:12

this really ultimately represents what

14:14

the prisoner issue

14:15

represents Human Rights group betm has

14:18

documented dozens of cases of systemic

14:20

abuse and had widespread torture in

14:23

Israeli jails and says that at least 60

14:24

Palestinian prisoners have have died in

14:27

detention since October 7th 2023 in what

14:30

it says are jails that have become

14:32

torture camps such is the scale of abuse

14:36

that BM says that it must now be

14:38

considered State policy is

14:42

it I mean it absolutely is I don’t think

14:45

there’s any denying that there is a

14:46

systematic um policy uh in terms of the

14:50

way that uh Israel conducts its sweeping

14:52

mass arrest campaigns even now during

14:54

this hostage uh prisoner exch sorry

14:55

exchange deal we’re seeing Israel

14:57

release as many prisoners at as it is

14:59

arresting in the West Bank uh and in the

15:02

same context of Gaza and in terms of the

15:05

systematic abuses we were hearing and

15:06

this became a systematic policy um that

15:09

has been documented for decades uh and

15:11

certainly those practices haven’t

15:12

changed they definitely accelerated but

15:14

there is absolutely no denying that this

15:16

is a blatant Israeli State policy

15:17

something that even Israeli politicians

15:19

have come out uh and openly declared in

15:21

in Israeli

15:23

media di prisoners say that they’ve been

15:25

subjected to regular severe arbitrary

15:28

violence including sexual assault others

15:31

uh other abuse such as starvation uh

15:34

rations and a denial of access to basic

15:36

hygiene supplies was was constant they

15:39

say um will Israel do you think ever be

15:41

held to account for its treatment of of

15:44

Palestinian

15:46

prisoners one would hope so but the

15:50

track record is that that will never

15:52

happen and the other frightening part

15:55

about all of this Adrian is that nobody

15:56

will be held to account even internally

15:59

in other words this isn’t just the the

16:01

question of whether Israel be held to

16:03

International standards but we’ve seen

16:05

that this has become so common place

16:07

inside Israel that when the allegations

16:10

of rape were coming out earlier this

16:13

this past summer there were people who

16:14

were literally rioting in order for to

16:17

continue to be able to rape Palestinians

16:20

who were held in uh in Israeli uh prison

16:23

camps um and so there is neither a

16:26

reckoning internationally nor is there

16:29

Reckoning that’s happening internally

16:31

inside Israel either so while I

16:33

certainly hope that people would be held

16:34

to account the track record has been

16:36

that nobody gets held to account for any

16:38

of this this is why we have this system

16:41

that’s lasted for for more than half a

16:44

century 58 years now of of mass arrest

16:48

where people one oh nearly one out of

16:50

every two men ends up spending time in

16:53

an Israeli prison um because of this

16:55

revolving system of mass incarceration

16:59

and it ends up being the case that the

17:00

only way that Palestinian prisoners

17:03

Palestinian captives are released is

17:05

through this Mass um this this Mass wave

17:09

that that ends up happening either

17:10

through the signing of an agreement or

17:13

through these types of ceasefires here’s

17:15

the problem is that unless that system

17:17

gets broken unless Israel sent a message

17:20

that this is wrong unfortunately this is

17:22

what we’re going to see this happen

17:23

again and again Orie going back to those

17:26

scenes of Jubilation in in romala how

17:28

how are those uh being viewed in Israel

17:32

and the release of the four Israeli

17:35

soldiers was accompanied by a show of

17:36

considerable Force by or strength by by

17:40

Hamas what impact has has that had there

17:43

in Israel and on Netanyahu do you

17:46

think oh Israelis find it infuriating

17:50

and in fact Israeli prison authorities

17:53

uh did their best to try and prevent any

17:55

images of Palestinian celebrations from

17:57

reaching Israeli eyes

17:59

uh resorting to ludicrous means like

18:02

darkening bus windows and uh so on uh

18:06

but uh the the um ceremony the handing

18:09

over ceremony that took place in

18:11

Palestine Square in Gaza uh really

18:13

infuriated Israelis uh they uh used it

18:17

as a platform to constantly discuss and

18:21

well not discuss but constantly repeat

18:23

and drive home a point that seems

18:26

self-evident in Israeli years which is

18:28

that Israel enjoys such a vast moral

18:31

superiority in comparison to Hamas that

18:34

it’s almost you know unbelievable that

18:36

Hamas allows itself to conduct its

18:38

ceremonies that this is psychological

18:40

terrorism that this is again and again

18:43

and again an indication of what animals

18:46

they are and how subhuman the entire

18:49

Palestinian struggle as reflected by

18:51

Hamas is um and in that context I’d like

18:55

to to add to what uh Diana said um that

18:59

the really horrid thing about the

19:01

Israelite attitude as far as I can

19:03

understand it from my vantage point here

19:06

inside is not so much the the the the

19:10

actual hatred or the desire for death or

19:12

a blood lust uh uh with regard to the

19:15

Palestinians the really horrible thing

19:18

is the flippant

19:20

indifference is this notion that

19:22

Palestinians are simply not there and

19:24

therefore anything that happens to them

19:26

is completely irrelevant beside the

19:28

Point not meant to affect the State of

19:31

Affairs as they are in the field I think

19:34

that’s the best way to describe the

19:36

General State of Affairs as far as the

19:38

majority of Jewish Israeli Society is

19:40

concerned sure there are those who would

19:43

like to kill as many Palestinians as

19:45

possible but ask your average

19:47

non-religious uh Israeli who defines him

19:50

or herself as a Centrist uh if they want

19:53

to kill Palestinians they’ll answer in

19:56

you know with with an adamant negative

19:57

of course we don’t

19:59

we have no choice but you know what are

20:01

you going to do that’s the really

20:03

horrible thing that is the effect of the

20:06

dehumanization that they are not

20:08

described uh this idea that Palestinians

20:11

are there simply as objects for uh

20:14

Jewish Israel subjects to manipulate

20:16

that is the source of evil that is what

20:18

must be broken and until it is broken I

20:21

don’t think Israel will change in any

20:23

significant way to what what do you make

20:25

of that there are there are plenty of

20:27

people who want to see this deal fail

20:29

but given the scenes of of Jubilation

20:31

that we saw yesterday uh do those do you

20:34

think give greater momentum to the

20:35

process perhaps weaken the the The

20:38

Stance the the the the the indifference

20:41

that that AI was talking

20:44

about it’s diff it’s sorry it’s

20:47

difficult to um to really expect it to

20:50

to sort of weaken that sort of

20:51

indifference I don’t think there’s been

20:53

any indication to that effect uh I think

20:56

also the fact that you’ve um around this

20:58

current prisoner hostage exchange deal

21:00

you also have Israel constantly shifting

21:02

the M poost uh around the hostage

21:04

exchange process claim that Hamas is

21:06

breaking uh what had been agreed upon in

21:08

order to continue to

21:11

um I guess give itself discretion out of

21:13

its obligations and this ceas fire deal

21:15

in terms of the return to the north uh

21:17

given that uh Israel’s claiming that

21:19

Hamas did not release one of the

21:21

hostages that it claims were supposed to

21:23

be uh released alongside the other four

21:25

uh yesterday so I mean it’s it’s really

21:28

difficult to to sort of see that shift

21:31

in in in changing public attitudes at

21:33

least in Israel where we’re not really

21:34

seeing that pressure where Israel has

21:35

continued since the start of the

21:37

ceasefire to violate a lot of its uh

21:39

obligations that were supposedly agreed

21:42

upon uh and again going back to Diana’s

21:44

point about the fact that there those

21:45

that are meant to be guaranteeing that

21:47

Israel sticks to its obligations have

21:49

not done that in in in any way in fact

21:52

if anything they have also um partaken

21:55

in in in resending a lot of what is what

21:57

Israel was allegedly to to have agreed

21:59

to Deana let’s get to president Trump

22:02

what are we to make of his comments

22:04

about Air Force One on Saturday that he

22:07

wants to see Jordan and Egypt accept

22:09

more Palestinian refugees as Gaza is

22:11

quote a demolition site and that we

22:13

should clear the whole thing out and say

22:16

you know it’s

22:19

over there’s two things to say to that

22:21

first how about letting them return back

22:24

to their original homes which were lands

22:26

and homes that were taken over with the

22:28

lishment of the state of Israel 80% of

22:31

gaza’s population are refugees and

22:33

they’re refugees from the land that is

22:36

right adjacent to Gaza uh and so how

22:39

about that as a as as some sort of deal

22:42

uh instead of kind of trying to come up

22:44

with a different space and place where

22:46

they can go to Egypt or whatever it’s

22:48

this idea that that Palestinians are

22:50

somehow pwns and that we are people who

22:53

are just going to be the recipients of

22:56

any type of harm or damage we’re just

22:58

simply accept it but there’s something

23:00

else to say as well which is that this

23:02

is what the Biden administration had

23:04

also been talking about very early on

23:07

very early on there was a there was

23:09

papers that were coming out from the

23:11

White House talking about allocating

23:13

funds to Egypt uh and elsewhere in order

23:17

to as they put it relocate Palestinians

23:19

and at the time when Palestinians were

23:21

saying that this is uh ethnic cleansing

23:24

because that’s what it is everybody came

23:26

out and said no this is you know you’re

23:27

you’re somehow um this is some sort of

23:30

fantasy of yours but it’s clear that

23:32

what it is that Israel wants Israel

23:34

wants to get rid of Palestinians and

23:36

they want Palestinian land and the

23:39

question is whether the world is going

23:41

to stand up to Trump or whether this is

23:43

just gonna they’re going to allow him to

23:44

view this as some sort of U business

23:47

deal or some sort of real estate deal

23:50

there’s a history to Gaza Gaza City is

23:52

the largest Palestinian history and this

23:55

idea that somehow you can just erase it

23:57

and build a new is very problematic and

24:00

instead we should be thinking about

24:02

actually the root cause of this and that

24:04

is letting Palestinians go back to their

24:06

homes in what is current day Israel Orie

24:10

was this Trump just freewheeling talking

24:12

off the top of his head or is he somehow

24:15

verbalizing Israeli objectives as as

24:17

Diana hinted at there was there perhaps

24:19

some side deal do you think that was

24:20

agreed to to get the ceasefire over the

24:23

line before Trump’s inauguration or does

24:25

he genuinely incredibly naively think

24:28

that gazans are best served by by being

24:31

moved moved away from their

24:34

land I don’t think Trump cares about

24:36

gazin and I don’t think Trump has the

24:39

stamina and uh the the broad enough

24:43

world view to generate some kind of

24:45

comprehensive deal certainly not before

24:48

his inauguration I think he has exactly

24:51

the right kind of tenacity and uh and

24:55

sort of a devil mayare attitude because

24:56

he genuinely doesn’t care to help uh

25:00

generate a ceasefire deal of the earth

25:03

that we’re seeing now um I think there’s

25:05

a a a general resemblance between

25:08

Trump’s Mo and Israel’s Mo and that is

25:11

destroy first you know no questions ask

25:14

as comprehensively as you can and then

25:17

try and throw all kinds of solutions up

25:19

against the wall and see what sticks I

25:22

don’t think there’s a plan in place to

25:23

remove Palestinians from their land and

25:25

uh again as an Israeli I think our our

25:28

settlers a religious right certainly

25:30

wants Gaza but I think the majority of

25:33

of Israelis are not interested in Gaza

25:37

uh and are not interested in Empire I

25:39

think they’re interested in seeing the

25:40

Palestinians either gone or in full

25:44

awareness of their place which is having

25:47

Palestinian neck under Israel’s boots

25:49

that is an effective solution Israeli

25:52

thought we could do this with a genocide

25:54

but I think again for all for all the

25:56

world to see and I think Trump’s

25:57

Behavior here supports this assertion

26:01

the genocide has failed genocide in Gaza

26:03

has failed Israel is now without any

26:06

sort of real option because Israel

26:08

didn’t care to prepare a real option

26:10

before the images that we saw today from

26:12

Lebanon Lebanese villagers chasing

26:15

Israeli soldiers out the thousands or

26:17

tens of thousands who are placed to

26:19

return to the ruins of their homes in

26:21

Northern Gaza who are waiting for the

26:23

okay if they start to walk like the

26:26

Lebanese villagers did Israel has

26:28

absolutely nothing to do okay if Israel

26:30

bombs them or begins to fire on them in

26:33

systematic fashion Israel will suffer

26:35

the consequences I can’t make this point

26:38

often enough Israel is not triumphalist

26:41

Israel hasn’t won nobody here feels as

26:44

though something has been W Israel is in

26:46

a very bad way Israel feels and

26:49

understands that everything it’s set out

26:51

to do has failed according to every

26:53

Benchmark it itself had set 15 months

26:56

ago we are now without options because

26:58

we never took the effort to make them so

27:01

I think Trump in a way is very much

27:03

Israeli in that sense he has no idea

27:05

what to do and he’s floating these ideas

27:07

not willy-nilly I’m sure they were fed

27:09

to him by uh advisers but uh I don’t see

27:13

any chance uh that this thing will

27:15

happen toan I saw you noding an

27:17

agreement in places there what do you

27:19

have to say to

27:21

that you look Israel’s policy has always

27:24

been to prevent permanency of

27:25

Palestinian presence on the land and

27:27

we’ve seen that through you various

27:29

systematic measures that Israel has

27:30

pursued over the decades arguably what

27:32

we saw in Gaza over the last 15 months

27:34

has been an acceleration of Israel’s

27:35

policy to Gaza since 2007 which is to

27:38

make it completely unlivable and that’s

27:40

what it’s done uh it’s invested a lot to

27:43

to effectively destroy Gaza make it

27:45

completely uninhabitable uh it’s very

27:47

unlikely that it’s going to allow for

27:48

the resettlement uh and reconstruction

27:50

of the strip anytime soon uh we’re

27:52

seeing that in in in the um prevention

27:55

of of of movement of people from the

27:57

South to the north North uh this idea

27:59

that you know Israel can’t stop hordes

28:01

of people from moving uh back to their

28:03

homes I mean we’ve seen it we’ve seen

28:04

Israel violate the the terms of the Seas

28:06

verdict deal since uh day one where on

28:09

the first day we saw Israel shooter a

28:11

15-year-old boy who was returning home

28:12

to sorry returning to his home in Rafa

28:15

uh and just yesterday we saw similar

28:16

images of people trying to return from

28:18

to the north um so this you know this

28:20

this idea of of um you know Israel

28:24

wanting to to effectively displace

28:25

Palestinians from Gaza that’s something

28:27

that Palestinians themselves as well as

28:28

Regional states were warning about since

28:30

the beginning of this Onslaught Jordan

28:32

itself went so far as to claim that any

28:34

potential attempt would be considered a

28:36

declaration of war uh so and and you

28:39

know Palestinians had been anticipating

28:42

including those privy to the Seas fine

28:43

negotiation since November by the way uh

28:45

that that potentially if we did see a SE

28:48

in in Gaza it would be at the cost of

28:49

annexation okay I’m sorry to interrupt

28:51

you but we’re we’re out of time uh many
