As predicted, Ukraines misadventure into Kursk is costing them dearly.
Many analysts are describing the last 2 days as the worst losses by Ukraine in 2 years.
Several essentially irreplaceable western supplied air defence systems, worth billions, were destroyed by Russian missile forces, including IRIS T and several Patriot systems. Dozens of light and armoured vehicles destroyed, hundreds of dead, and many more wounded, 4 HIMARS launchers and support vehicles have been destroyed and scarce Ukrainain missile carrying attack aircraft destroyed along with the ground crews. Pilots and ordinance.
It’s critically important to mention that these crucial losses and the expenditure of some of Ukraines’ most valuable and capable reserves, all come in the context of relentless continued Russian advances in the East.
As Russian command decides how to counter Ukrainain light vehicle and sabotage groups on the ground in Kursk (the frontline has essentially stabilised and several Ukrainian attempts to occupy new settlements have been defeated), devastating strikes on Ukraines rear in Sumy region continue, as I’ve said, Russia can continue these strikes indefinitely and even afford to concede territory in the short term to establish fixed defence, what matters is the attrition of Ukraines increasingly scarce resources, this is the key point.
The other point worth mentioning is the impact of the Kursk offensive inside Russia itself, my personal experience has been a hardening of attitudes towards Kiev here in Russia, this is palpable.
I still believe that the Kursk misadventure could be an irreparable military miscalculation on a grand scale. There is simply no way Ukraine can match Russian scale in delivery of men and machines to the frontlines, and as I’ve said before and continue to reiterate, the Ukrainian wishful projection that the Kursk operation may impact Russian public attitudes to the conflict negatively, is in my Direct experience a massive miscalculation and PR based projection.

Luke Akehurst and his Israel lobby group tried to get my music removed from Spotify.
His campaign manager for this was Rachel Blain. Today, she is the Director of Public Affairs at the Conservative Friends of Israel.
It seems she was also employed by the Israeli embassy.
Wow. LFI (Mélenchon’s party) says it might initiate an impeachment procedure against Emmanuel Macron, accusing him of an “institutional coup against democracy” because he did not acknowledge the result of the legislative elections.
Hard to deny this: we’re 6 weeks after the elections and Macron and his government are still running the country, nothing has changed…
If they go for it, it would be a first in the history of the 5th republic. But it’s also unlikely to succeed given the high thresholds needed.
Here’s an explanation of how it works according to Article 68 of the French Constitution (as far as I understand it):
1) Grounds for Impeachment: The French President can only be removed from office for a “breach of his duties patently incompatible with his continuing in office.” This is a high bar and is generally interpreted as covering only the most serious misconduct.
2) Initiating the Process: The process can be started by either chamber: the National Assembly or the Senate.
3) Formation of the High Court: If impeachment proceedings are initiated, both chambers of Parliament convene as a High Court (Haute Cour) composed of 22 members (juges) elected from both chambers. The High Court is led by the President of the National Assembly.
4) Voting Process: The proposal to convene the High Court must be approved by two-thirds of the members of the house that initiated the process. If approved, the other house must also vote on the proposal within 15 days (but a simple majority – more than 50% – in this second chamber is sufficient to approve convening the High Court).
5) Investigation and Trial: If both houses agree to convene the High Court, it then investigates the allegations and conducts a trial-like process.
6) Final Decision: The High Court must make its decision within one month. A two-thirds majority of the High Court is required to remove the President from office. If the vote passes, the removal from office takes effect immediately.
