After more than two years of war, the NYT reports on the Istanbul peace agreement negotiated in April 2022 – Maybe in another two years, they will report on the well-documented evidence that the US & UK sabotaged it to use Ukraine as a proxy to weaken Russia as a strategic rival
oooooo
Very important scoop by the FT: in an April 2023 meeting with Ursula Von Der Leyen, Xi Jinping told her that the US “was trying to trick China into invading Taiwan, but that he would not take the bait”. https://ft.com/content/7d6ca06c-d098-4a48-818e-112b97a9497a
I’m also personally convinced it’s true, and I know people in China almost universally believe this. If it wasn’t true, then how can all the US provocations around Taiwan be explained, as well their numerous unilateral violations of the One China Principle? Or Biden saying not once, not twice but 4 times that he’d come to Taiwan’s defense in case of war, thereby reneging their decades-old commitment to strategic ambiguity? Or all the constant rhetoric by so many US officials that war is coming?
Why would the US want war in Taiwan? Simply because they’d then be able to apply the Ukraine modus operandi to China: massive sanctions that attempt to severe relations between China and the rest of the world (or at least the West), confiscation of China’s reserves in dollars, and fighting China down to the last Taiwanese. Doesn’t cost the US much and it’d enable them to eliminate a competitor in their exclusive domain that is the West. It’d also probably significantly disrupt the economy in Asia overall, much like Ukraine disrupts Europe’s economy, with the US then being able to position itself as the sole stable and safe place in the world to do business…
All this is undoubtedly why Xi says he “won’t take the bait”. I also suspect the Taiwanese themselves aren’t too hot about the prospect either, except for some of the most radicalized independentists. Which is why you’re currently seeing the US shifting gear and concentrating their war-triggering efforts on the Philippines who seem much more open to the idea, with a scary 73% of Filipinos supporting military action against China (https://scmp.com/week-asia/politics/article/3266065/south-china-sea-survey-shows-73-filipinos-support-military-action-against-beijing)…
And the while China is presented by clueless media as the aggressor in all this so as to manufacture consent and ensure that if war does in fact start then everyone believes it’s “unprovoked and unjustified”… When if people were presented a fair, balanced and truthful assessment of what’s going on, what everyone would insist on is an end to the provocations. This all of course goes to show that China might be good at many things but the US still absolutely dominates the information space and controls the narrative.
Ben Gvir is live on camera calling for ethnic cleansing! Only god knows how they are getting away with this.

Medvedev: “This Swiss “livestock yard” is pure surrealism. Kafka and Orwell nervously smoke on the sidelines. None of the participants of this “peace forum” know what they are doing there or what their role is. After all, for the “resolution of conflict,” the cunning Swiss shepherds have only invited trusted animals: a swaggering, sexually aroused mad little boar with his constant companion, a herd of blissfully bleating dim-witted Western Alpine sheep dreaming about peace, and a pack of European guard dogs to protect the herd. The dogs bark, spitting poisoned saliva in all directions, and maintain order. And it’s necessary to watch over them: the sheep often bleat aimlessly and get tangled up in rehearsed formulas. Invisibly at the head of the flock is an elderly mentally feeble owner, long disconnected from reality, who constantly freezes while staring into the sky with a detachedly idiotic expression on his face. His family didn’t let him go due to advancing dementia, sending a deputy into the mountains instead, who appeared briefly on the green lawn, recited a rehearsed phrase, and quickly bolted home.
In general, Alpine livestock grazing is just dismal crap, ruthlessly burning through the taxpayers’ money.

“I’m in the technology business, and there is a term invented by the Americans that has to do with my business called ‘small garden, tall walls.’
It means that they want to keep the best technology in the small garden and erect very tall walls so the rest of us, or people they don’t like, cannot access it.
I borrowed that concept and took a look, asking, ‘Who are in the small garden? Who are outside the walls?’
It turned out that two groups of countries are in the small garden.
The first group is the British Empire and its four grandsons that had four genocides and established four states.
Of course, you know who they are.
The second group consists of countries that, maybe 1,000 years ago during the first division of Christianity, were part of Western Christendom.
Not you [Russia], but the Western Christians.
These are Germany, France, and others. These countries form a small number of countries that, at the moment, account for about half of the world’s GDP but maybe only a third of its growth.
If you look at BRICS or the rest of the world, we’re about half the world’s GDP but 60% to 65% of growth.
We now trade amongst ourselves more than we trade with them.
Since last year, I think, the Global South trades more amongst ourselves than with the so-called Global North.
I want to turn the idea upside down.
I think the Americans first came up with the idea called ‘the West and the Rest.’
The reality is actually the world and the West.
We are the world, my friends.
We are the world.
They are the West, which is a small garden, and they want to erect high walls.
That’s great. Keep them inside.”

Gas imports to Europe from Russia in May exceeded supplies from the United States for the first time in two years, writes the Financial Times.
Last month, Russian pipeline gas and LNG supplies accounted for 15 percent of total supplies to the EU, as well as the UK, Switzerland, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and North Macedonia, according to data analytics firm ICIS.
The share of liquefied natural gas from the United States was 14 percent, the lowest since August 2022.
The growth was mainly due to an increase in supplies of Russian LNG – due to the failure of one of the American export facilities. Russia has also sent more gas through Turkey ahead of scheduled maintenance in June. – ISZ reports

Iran-backed Houthis are the game-changer that the US was not ready for.
Houthis have been using sophisticated weapons such as drones & anti-ship ballistic misssiles almost every day since Israel launched the assault on Gaza.
Red Sea, where 30% of global container traffic goes through, is paralyzed now.
More importantly, the Houthis are draining American resources. The US has conducted 450 strikes and intercepted 200 missiles and drones, but has not deterred the resistance group in Yemen.
The conflict is not sustainable, since the US is struggling with inventory and supply chains.

This conversation is released with the premiere of the documentary ‘Where Olive Trees Weep,’ along with 21 days of talks on Palestine with leading historians, spiritual teachers, trauma therapists, poets, artists and more.
Unsilencing Palestinian Narratives: On Storytelling and Struggle With Mohammad Bakri, Rana Nazzal Hammadeh, Iyad AbuRok facilitated by Ashira Darwish
This conversation explores the role that storytelling plays in amplifying Palestinian narratives systemically suppressed by the Israeli state.
Bakri, whose searing films “Jenin, Jenin” and “1948” have boldly challenged dominant Israeli narratives, discusses the inherent act of resistance in asserting Palestinian humanity, memory and truth on screen. His insights reveal cinema as a potent vehicle for combating the erasure of Palestinian voices and history.
‘Where Olive Trees Weep’ is a poignant, heartbreaking film about the struggles and resilience of Palestinian people under Israeli occupation. It explores themes of loss, trauma, and the quest for justice. We follow, among others, Palestinian journalist and therapist Ashira Darwish, grassroots activist Ahed Tamimi, and Israeli journalist Amira Hass. It features Dr. Gabor Maté as he offers trauma-healing work to Palestinian women tortured in Israeli prisons.
The program expands on the themes explored in the film and provides a larger historical and social context.

because feels strange that sometimes was also very apologetic still very aptic in
21:08
space and the first time that cck to me when you said that may maybe because we
21:14
have constantly ape for
21:23
ex one thing that i always
21:29
i always pr a conversation when i’m crossing checks what i have to say to
21:34
the solders how will i sound and how will i act so that i don’t look palestinian and i don’t sound too
21:40
palestinian and that i’m not caught i always have to run through these conversations every time that i leave

22:20
how they can ever make that go away you know this is remind me a story that i
22:26
was told by friend of m a an act his
22:32
name is kh from بيت لحم he is an artist and he is
22:41
working with children he has he is like a clown doing you
22:46
know a children theater like a clown so he was
22:54
with his clown you know
22:59

23:29
for children he said ah you are an actor clown so
23:37
make some cl play play like clown
23:46
and no i’m not playing on the checkpoint if you want to watch me as a clown you
23:52
must come to the theat he said no if you don’t make a clown now i will not let you go
23:59
and he said but i cann do it here i need to change my cloes and to
24:07
put my makeup and and i’m not used to make clown on the
24:13
checkpoints if you want you please can come to the theater and the sold didn’t
24:20
let him go so he told me story what does that
24:26
me to be
24:33
24:48
25:27
فلسطين um you you made the film about children how does it feel for you right
25:34
now because far a and watching going in to all
25:39
kids did you did any of them get affected i’m sure must been affected by
25:45
the war but how does it feel to be outside after you made this film and how how has it ched
25:57
28:05
make art production collaboration palan in norway i was faced decision
28:12
that i need to compl separate tion my heart that
28:18
i the lives
28:23
33:30
33:56
eng and witnessed it it’s still it burned
34:03
like it burned that memory also further into into into into our story in a way
34:11
and it was great that there was something it felt that we were witnessed through your film what happened to us
34:18
andine was there and it was documented even though we saw it with our own eyes but there there’s a piece of history
34:24
that you encapsulated for all of us
34:31
35:54
في قلب قلب الحقيقه without any make

45:39
48:59
from hisar from our his when the germans the nazis perpet the holocaust
49:07
and the crimes against humanity people turned a blind in the beginning and they
49:14
allow these crimes to continue and they all them happen they intervened and what is happening now is in pal people are a
49:22
blind to is gen some
49:29
hold account just as just as the germans to have to justify and what they
49:37
have done and the crimes they committed israel will have to as the worst country
49:43
in humanity in the history human to have perpetrated atr and mass
49:50
against children against women against against bab
49:59
is using argument of this huge amount of mass in order to defend themselves
50:05
can never come can never be accepted as as an argument because we seen the level of children we seen the level of of hate
50:13
and killing and massing that cann be used in the name of any form of def whatsoever
50:20
and he believes that the history will hold the israel accountable and even if to they
50:27
contin to do what they doing and even the world is also and not moving an in
50:33
to stop what is happening people will be whipping themselves in a few years after they
50:38
realize what they have allowed to exist and what they have allowed israel to do to the children in in palestine and as
50:45
film makers um it is the duty to hold these stories
50:52
so that we can also hold people into account in the future for what has been done

51:22
51:58
remember is is has per so much in the name god so even a even if you don’t

52:16
has done in the name of humanity will us all will us forever
52:29

56:31
others remember moments in a film or in book
56:39
read that make him change his life or his
56:44
attitude that’s we what we must search in the
56:51
commentary this kind of moments which can
56:56
eff and make make us stop and think and feel
57:07
and change our attitude when i was 17 years
57:16
old i though i am the
57:21
most beautiful gu in the world and the most clever and the most brave

59:20
that we can ourselves the mov ands have been the way that i see and how i see

hope that this film will also touch people hearts and that it can also influence

1:00:26
as directors where are you we
1:00:32
here speaking with you and listening to
1:00:38
mohammed yeah mie we watched it not long ago you
1:00:44
know how ignorant we are fakers here the
1:00:49
west and feeling
1:00:56
could you find poetry in the mid of destruction you found beuty in the mid
1:01:03
of so much pain and and i know it’s not like you you searched but you you felt
1:01:11
it you transmitted through the film and to me that’s what we looked as well in
1:01:16
our movie when we were filming in the west bang and i w to get to you when you said
1:01:23
that you had to separate your heart
1:01:33
opening and breaking and closing and i felt i had to close few times my heart
1:01:39
to keep allowing to keep going to keep going because we had only two weeks
1:01:44
three weeks to be there so as a filmmaker i know we can’t make movies
1:01:50
with clos hearts we have to have our hearts broken to transmit and yet i
1:01:58
know there moments i couldn’t keep my heart open was too much that’s one thing and the other
1:02:05
thing i wanted to ask we we had so many stories that at the end we didn’t share
1:02:12
because we had to protect the people we interviewed like how did
1:02:18
you work and make those decisions and evaluate the risk and the benefit
1:02:38
1:04:03
old he me and
1:04:10
mother that
1:04:17
love can protect me love protect
1:04:29
1:04:55
be af if you don’t love when you
1:05:01
love your love will protect the
1:05:11
other difference you know i shoting
1:05:28
he took like one hour
1:05:33
brilliantly i didn’t use one second of him you know
1:05:40
why because he didn’t speak with love he spoke like a
1:05:52
politici i don’t need politics in my films
1:06:09
1:06:26

1:06:33
that it is ex i don’t need politicians to come and
1:06:39

1:06:47
no i know that i need to touch
1:06:56
the soul of you and when i touch the soul of you i
1:07:01
touch the mind of you if i touch the mind of you only the
1:07:09
mind of you i will never touch the soul of
1:07:16
