The director of al Shifa hospital in Gaza told al Jazeera:
—22 ICU patients died overnight. He said the hospital “lost all those who were in the intensive care unit.”

[A crucial factor in explaining Europe’s psychopathological approach to the massacre unfolding in Gaza is] Europeans’ enduring dominant/subordinate relationship.
European countries have been denatured by America, in the sense that they are shed of sovereign status and its attendant political will. That perverse transatlantic bond has been cultivated by both sides. Its significance for understanding the European attitude towards Israel/Palestine is two-fold.
One, there is an eerie inversion of roles for European polities who participate in dominant-subordinate relations with both America and Arab Muslims. It matches the classic profile of the “authoritarian personality”. Toward the superior one is docile, obedient, obsequious; toward the inferior one is arrogant, demanding and patronizing. The latter compensates for the former in terms of maintaining a positive sense of self.
A variation of this psychological pattern is visible in the attitude of Western government leaders toward their own populace. In effect, they assume the dominant role in treating their citizens as subordinates from whom deference is expected on matters of state. Strikingly, today we see overwhelming and growing popular advocacy of a ceasefire in Gaza while the political elites — those holding official positions, the media and the punditry –—vigorously suppress the dissent.

Last month I said there’s evidence that many of the atrocities Hamas is accused of committing on October 7 like burning people alive were actually instances of indiscriminate Israeli fire, and people called me an antisemitic Holocaust denier. Yesterday an Israeli official admitted on TV that Israel had misidentified HUNDREDS of dead Hamas fighters as Israeli because there were so many corpses that were too badly burned to identify. Unless you believe Hamas was also burning hundreds of its own fighters alive, it’s safe to assume that the burned corpses seen in all the images Israel has been bandying about since October 7 were in fact victims of Hellfire missiles fired by IDF forces. The IDF, not Hamas, burned people alive — both Israeli and Palestinian.

Russian citizens’ debts on short-term loans have reached a historic peak. The volume of payday loans in Russia has increased to a record 292% per year. In the third quarter of 2023, the total amount of issued microcredits reached 348.1 billion rubles (almost $4 billion) which is which is 18.2% more than in the previous year.
Moreover, the total number of clients of microfinance organizations increased by 2.7 million people, reaching 19.9 million people. These data were published by the largest association of microfinance market participants – Self-Regulatory Organization (SRO) “Microfinance and Development”, Russian “Izvestiya” media reports.
Microfinance organizations are usually shady businesses that target poor people who don’t have a lot of financial literacy. This trend shows that Russians who had low standards of living will probably become even poorer with few chances to get their affairs in order.
