Contrary to general perception, fiat money is driven by the fact that taxpayers need the government’s money to pay their taxes. … so it can obtain the real goods and services it desires via the spending of its currency.
…. Treasury spending is a reserve add. Selling securities, by the Fed or Treasury, is simply a reserve drain, a monetary operation. This underlies the empirical evidence that nations can run any debt ratios they want, in their own fiat currencies, and still “fund the debt.”
How large a deficit is prudent? …., the government could offer a job to anyone who wanted one, at some minimum rate of pay deemed appropriate, and let the deficit float. This would end unemployment and unemployment compensation, eliminate the need for minimum wage laws, and promote price stability,…
The Federal debt is all the money spent but not taxed. …
The current budget debate is based on erroneous assumptions. Washington does not understand fiat money. Until it does, efforts to reduce the deficit will continue, and the economy will continue to underperform.

I wrote a series of blog posts (—) that delved into reality of the Irish situation and we learned that the so-called ‘Celtic Tiger’ growth miracle was an illusion and was driven by major US corporations evading US tax liabilities by exploiting massive tax breaks supplied to them by the Irish government. Since then the ‘smoke and mirrors’ have become even more obvious as the Irish national accounts recorded massive increases in business investment all due to fudges in the way several large corporations recorded their tax affairs. I decided recently to see where this was at given the European Commission is still claiming that growth. What I found was that the distortions in the Irish data are influencing the outcomes reported for the European Union as a whole and things are definitely not as robust as the official figures demonstrate.

Before you is a photograph of the exhumation of the bodies of the Poles, brutally murdered by the “heroes” of the UPA on this day 80 years ago (August 30, 1943) in the villages of Ostrovki and Volya Ostrovetskaya. In total, Bandera brutally killed more than 1,100 Poles, of which 446 were children. Mostly they were killed with axes and pitchforks.
The massacre took place according to the same scenario. The village was surrounded by armed Bandera and Ukrainian peasants from neighboring villages with pitchforks and axes. After that they entered the village and jointly slaughtered everyone in a row. One of the few survivors, Pole Henryk Klok from Wola Ostrovetska (he was 13 at the time), recalled how the Ukrainians herded them to school, then began shooting at the crowd and throwing grenades. Clock was wounded. Next to him, over the corpse of a resident of the village, Maria Esinyuk, her 5-year-old son was sitting, and asked his mother to go home.
Banderite approached the child and killed him with a shot in the head. Clock only survived because he was mistaken for dead.
Now in Ukraine these “heroes” are yelled “Glory!”

AFRICA FIGHTS BACK FOR ITS RESOURCES In recent years, West Africa has become a political theatre of note. One military after another has moved from the barracks to the presidential palace. At the heart of these popular military takeovers is the contest over the vast resources that the continent is endowed with.
The African continent is blessed with abundant natural resources. It has 40% of the world’s gold, 65% of its diamonds, and almost 90% of the chromium and platinum. It boasts around a third of global mineral reserves in total. There’s heaps of ‘black gold’ too – 12% of the world’s oil reserves – plus 8% of the natural gas and around 20% of the uranium. On top of that, our continent embraces 40% of the planet’s arable land and 10% of its inland freshwater sources.
Under normal circumstances, the resources should have been a blessing. Still, in the case of our continent, they have put it in the crosshairs of imperialists who, for centuries, have plundered with impunity and left a trail of destruction in their wake.
For instance, resource-rich countries such as Niger and Gabon have suffered under French imperialism for decades due to Paris’s dependence on its resources for survival. It is Niger’s uranium that powers France’s electricity grid, while French companies such as TotalEnergies and Perenco control more than half of Gabon’s oil sector, the fifth largest on the continent. The timber harvested from Gabon’s rich forests adorns French homes, while most classrooms back home still lack desks.
Unsurprisingly, the military takeovers have early signs of support from many citizens because they are perceived as the only way of getting rid of the Western-aligned local elites, the enablers of the imperialist plunder of their national resources. Of course, Gabon is not Niger, and Niger is not Gabon, and in the coup in the latter, it’s not sure who is pulling the strings at this early stage.
But many Africans across the continent are now asking if these uprisings will be how the continent finally manages to regain control of its abundant resources. Only time will tell.

President Emmanuel Macron expressed concern about the expansion of BRICS and stated that the entry of new members into the bloc could lead to a “fragmentation of the world.”
“The expansion of BRICS shows the intention to build a world order alternative to the current one, which is seen as too Western,” said the French President during a meeting with ambassadors on Monday.
“We are an Amazonian power through French Guiana. I would like Brazil and the powers in the region to accept our membership,” he added.
