Kaixo, hola Quim,

Buena entrevista (http://www.elciudadano.cl/2016/02/17/257403/independencia-de-cataluna-podria-ser-una-de-las-grandes-revoluciones-democraticas-del-sur-de-europa)

Scoland and Catalunya, the history will repeat itself?

(c) Catalunya

De todo esto, y de mucho más, teneis que hablar con Warren Mosler…

Abajo aparece el tema que él me propuso para tratar en Catalunya. Yo no tenía entonces contactos con la CUP.

Dear Warren.

Similar situation as the one described before… (see below)

Catalonian people are really scared to know new things about new currency, deficits and etc.

They have a problem, big problem, with the Spanish state.

So they ‘need help’ from Europe, at the political level.

An important event will take place next September 27th:

And so on and so forth: look at http://english.vilaweb.cat/

I have written to different Catalonian people, sending them the emails you sent me.

Not even a single answer!!! Not even for courtesy.

Ooooooooooooooooo

As to the Basque Country, the situation is even worse…

People are engaged with the coming Spanish elections in December.

No way to discuss about economics, the euro, austerity…

Basque people are in favor of Syriza (!?)

I sent some different people twice the news that you will be in Catalonia this coming September.

No answer at all.

Discouraging!

All the best.

Thanks for this update!

If it helps, I could do a presentation entitled ‘How to Succeed Inside the Euro Zone’ ???

It can be about what the problem is, and what the EZ needs to do to fix it, and what you can do

to work through the EZ channels for constructive change.

Leaving Italy for the States shortly.

All the best!!!

Dear Warren,

As you can image, being Basque I’m not an expert on Spain.

But here you have some clues about the present Spanish situation:

The party in power in Spain right now, Partido Popular (PP), is going down all the way. It has the absolute majority, was and is pro Draghi, Eurozone is the paradise on earth and so on, all the expected austerity measures have been put in march. In the last past election they have lost lot of votes… It seems that in the next election, in November, they can lose the majority they have now.

The main opposition party, Partido Socialista Obrero Español (PSOE) is not able to recuperate from its history: they have lost year after year all the power they once had (early 80’s, 90’s)… They also are pro Draghi and dreaming with the Eurozone, with no critical spirit at all… They started with the austerity measures in Spain.

On the left, the old Izquierda Unida (IU) has a lot of problems inside itself, and the last election gave them something close to nothing.

By the way, Randall Wray was invited by them, gave some lectures in Madrid, presented his book (translation into Spanish of Modern Monetary Theory).

It seems to me that they are the only ones who know something about MMT and about Job Guarantee… But, their political practice, their quarrels (among themselves) are not understandable at all.

There is another political party, Podemos (“We can”), a kind of Syriza, with good political perspectives. But as Syriza, they want to stay and remain inside the Eurozone, and, at the same time, fight against austerity and unemployment… same dream as Syriza: the finding of the new paradise.

One more party, Ciudadanos (Citizens) is a kind of new right wing party, pro euro, pro Draghi and son on…

So, we have left Catalonia and our Basque Country:

I have sent some emails to Catalonian people mentioning them MMT, you, the possibility to be with you in Catalonia next September. NO ANSWER up to now.

It seems that they are scared about the new MMT paradigm… they want to be inside the Eurozone, as a new European state, but with all the consequences that this situation brings with it: Draghi, austerity, unemployment and all the known followings.

As to the Basque Country, I have sent some different people the news that you will be in Catalonia next September. A newspaper (GARA) asked for the date but not more…

They know me, I have been publishing in Basque during the last nine years, I have a blog, made some interviews on radio and TV, but…, as you know, little remains, at least up to now in the short run.

On the other hand, I’m really impressed with your two tours in Italy. At least, you have young people around, and it seems that MMT is getting good ground in Italy. Congratulations.

There is lot of work to be done in Catalonia, even more in our Basque Country. As to Spain, the people who can understand MMT, IU people, have real problems at home, inside their party.

What a mess!

Best regards.
